It means that they are keyed into something or someone from the past. Problem is, they do not know it. You remind them of the other. They can not help it going over the deep end. Until they figure out the "why" they are being like this. Most do not even question the "why." All they know is that it just is.
So ask them, "who do I remind you of ?" Think long, think hard. I don't know I just do, is not an answer.
One time I left a person here that I had a strong feeling that she was a sister to me. Ah creepy I know for here. However it led more to who the person was that I was keyed into. We are still good friends today.

Best to put as much distance between yourself and such a person. You never know what somebody might do, so why take an unnecessary risk? Life is too short for dealing with that kind of person. You need to establish barriers.
