Anyone with internet can look up "evolutionary ancestors of pigs" and learn that 40 million years ago in the Miocene, the family Suidae was present. Suidae evolved during the Pleistocene and the branches of the Suidae include wild boar: Sus Scrofa, the direct ancestor of pigs. Mitochondrial DNA and other nuclear gene sequencing have proven the direct links in an ongoing chain right up to the present domestic pig.
Other members of the Suidae family include today's wart hogs.
