Harder to bone prof for better grade online.

Personally I’ve found online to work best for me I’ve never been great at attending class so being able to pick my schedule day by day is great! Takes a lot of discipline and time management but I love it!

My area with a Phd matters

Online.

Fubar gave solid advice. You want to make sure that the degree is accredited. Also, if it is, then if you decide to transfer to a brick and mortar school in the future, for whatever reason, some of the coursework should transfer. I personally prefer to be in a classroom setting but have taken classes online.

don't get me started about school - 25 years counting kindy garden

Not the same at all and can never compare it to a community college or 4-year college/University experience.
But the very best in getting that degree.

The major matters so your case might be different than mine. My education was in STEM, for example, and I wouldn't have been able to acquire my bachelors degree if it were online because those degrees are not accredited. You have labs, projects and so on. However, there are master degrees in my field and some schools offer the same classes as the ones on campus with the same degree designation but the delivery is different. These are not accelerated programs though like the one you describe. A PhD is another story. You must do research and you can't do that by hiding behind your computer.

I’m currently taking my first completely online course. It has pros and cons, but if you are working and juggling a busy life it is probably the best option. Discipline is much more of an issue since you have to set your own pacing plan. You don’t have an instructor to set a pace or engage in conversation. There are discussion topics and just like here, the discussion can become very in depth, and some people are very passionate about their views.

I preferred online for the required courses outside my major, the ones where I just wanted to memorize, regurgitate, chalk up a grade and move on.
For the stuff I really WANTED to learn in depth, or for a course I knew would be somewhat difficult, I found the classroom environment more valuable.

Both.
I like to take certain classes in person and certain ones online.

You like the DICKtation ?

You're striving for a Post hole Digger? That will be very useful when you need to construct a fence.

Online requires you to be very strict and disciplined. its very easy to slack off and fall behind online and its very fast paced. in class forces you to make the time to learn. so really it is up to you weather or not you capable of really setting time aside to study and make it a routine.
either way best of luck to you in your future endeavors!

college age would lean towards live...older and time challenged lean online...hopefully by this time you know what your objective is and more focused

I like to go on campus and tape my iphone to my shoe.

Doctor of what?

Myself, I would never have the discipline for online learning, too many distractions around the house. Face to face hands on works much better for me. I have mastered the art of homework and concentration.
Good luck.

My ex wife got her Masters solely through online. She likes the flexibility and that she didn't have to be somewhere for classes.
|
|
I did two years in class and it is not for me. I do not have patience for other students that do not catch on fast. But, yes my school is accredited
|
|
I got my degree online from a well-respected school back home in New England. If you need flexibility, I highly recommend it. A PhD program, tho? I doubt you can do that online.

I thought every lady on HX is working on their college degree.....

On campus.... Too many distractions around my house for online schooling.

Go with the one that fits into your life better at this time. Try it first - you can always try the other one second if things change. Good luck furthering your education!

Back when i was young i went to school on campus but i didnt have time for any "getting the real college experience". I worked at a school and a restaurant and took 5 classes. And i went to sdsu until 94 and it was very hard to get a class, let alone 5. Not sure how it is now.
I finished online and you do need to be disciplined and stay up on your work. Eight weeks goes by fast and if you fall behind you are screwed.
I would say the only class i took online but probably shouldnt have was statistics. It took me until the final to finally get it. Got a 98% on final and only pulled a C for my end grade. Thats how bad i had been doing.
Good luck to you.

OP FYI, a gambling PhD requires you to attend a casino on a regular basis...especially one from UNLV.(None of this off shore crap.)
Hope that helps.

Writing that dissertation sucks big time. My problem with any PhD is the time, cost and opportunity cost. By the time you finish, the economy may be in a recession. Better to get a great job now and ask your employer to put you through school.
