Cinco De Mayo was created by the Produce Association to placate the mexican farm workers. In essence giving them a Holiday so they can cook up some carnee asado's, hoot n hollar and shoot their pistolas in the air.
I know first hand from what I lernt in public schools in East LA.

Funny how the gringos celebrate cinco de Mayo more than the Mexicans and have no clue what it’s about? But then again, El Torito is their best authentic Mexican food. Lmao
