Here we go!
2 1/2 weeks till they vote...
5-6 week Trial in the Senate in January/February.
What a fun few of months ahead.
Not sure how the Dems come out winners at the end of this.
Sherkahn will have a sissy lib orgasm and continue to mooch off the taxpayer
I got rental properties, jammer. i don’t mooch. People pay ME to live on my turf.
@Kaiser. Normally I would agree. A competent and intelligent politician knows that as of right now it’s fifty fifty on how this goes. But we are not dealing with competent people, we are dealing with inflated egos. watch Trump self destruct as he and Guliani go off the reservation. They will take the bait, or find some way to fuck up on their own.
Take the bait?
He hasn’t yet... and if you haven’t noticed... it’s taken 3 years... but he is starting to manage himself better. Still not where I think a president should be... but ... he’s growing.
He knows the only way for Dems to win this is for 20 Republican Senators to vote against him.
They only way Nancy brings it to a vote in the House is if she knows she has whipped the votes. As of now... it seems she doesn’t have it... or she would call for the vote next week. Too many Congressmen/women in vulnerable districts. So let’s see what happens right before Christmas.
Unless there is some bombshell revelation during the trial... 20 Republicans aren’t flipping. As a matter of fact, I’m betting there will be at least a few Democrats in vulnerable races that will not vote to convict.
They gave their best shot with the deck stacked in their favor over the last few weeks. All they did was convince the already convinced. The needle has not moved for those who like Trump and they have lost some middle of the road people.
I don’t see it getting better when there is an actual judge running an actual trial that consists of real rules of evidence and not “I heard he said to my friend’s cousin.” The whistle blower will be compelled to testify (maybe behind closed doors). Part of our rule of law is the accused’ s counsel gets to cross examine any and all witnesses.
This thing is about to get real interesting.

Don't you just feel like he is going to make it through all of this and be even more emboldened to say and do whatever the hell he wants? Like Bill Clinton learned to shut up and keep his dick in his pants, Trump is just going to fire up the blow torch and start roasting anyone who makes eye contact.
It will be very entertaining, that's for sure, we haven't even made it to the main act yet.
The greenlight was given in 2016.
One of the Dumbocrat presidential candidates was quoted as saying this is all a waste of time that would accomplish nothing but make the Dumbocrats look bad and hurt them all in 2020.
We can only hope.
"A competent and intelligent politician ..."
So, the shit show won't be getting any better.
Like I've said before, if they do have the votes to impeach, the Senate trial will be EPIC!
Bring it on.
it's becoming clearer every day that the Dems were bound and determined to impeach him no matter what - this is all because they can't stand actual democracy where the people get to choose the president and they just want to overturn the 2016 election
The problem with impeachment is that there is no bipartisan support for it. What finished Nixon is Republican support for impeachment. The Presidency of Donald Trump has been an extremely polarizing issue over the past two years, and this makes it virtually impossible for Republicans to support impeachment and removal at this time. The only way Trump could be held accountable for his behavior would be via grand compromise -- that is, for enough Democratic and Republican members of Congress and Senators to censure Donald Trump for his abuse of power (the quid pro quo) and warn him that future attempts to get foreign powers to meddle in the 2020 elections would not be tolerated and could (or would) lead to future action by Congress. A bipartisan compromise like this would actually put teeth into this thing, but I don't see either side willing to be part of that, unfortunately.
Its going to be funny when it gets to the Senate. They are going try to bring in Hunter Biden to testify and anyone else they can find to distract from Trump's act...but not try to call in the real players in this melodrama Rudy G, Mick Mulvaney, Mike Pompeo and John Bolton.
well; my understanding is the dems will get to call “prosecution witnesses” of their choice as deemed relevant by Chief Justice John Roberts.
so if Robert’s does his job in a just way... the Dems will have their witnesses. So will the Repubs defense team.
unlike the congressional hearings where the prosecution (democrats)controlled everything. Witnesses, questioning times etc...
john Roberts has shown himself to be independent of the White House. It is this type of thing that makes lifetime appointments to the Supreme Court valuable.
Roberts will try to make sure this public trial is run in a way to inspire confidence in the law... even though whichever side loses will call foul and bias.
Anyone remember the trial for Hill Billy Clinton? Was that fair, in hindsight?
Honestly... I don’t remember. I was t paying close attention in the late 90s. I remember Renquist presided and Clinton was not convicted... even though the evidence he lied under oath was unquestionable.
Remember... the internet wasn’t what it is today. the only way to keep up was if you didn’t work and could watch T.V.
I had more shit to do back then.
BTW... “Just” and “Fair” are to different standards. Just is about the correct outcome. Fair is about a sense of evenness.
A just outcome usually leaves some people feeling it was unfair.
I remember the Clinton impeachment and I remember one thing a Republican House Member or Senator said when they voted AGAINST impeachment. Basically, yeah. It’s obvious he did it. But, this isn’t what was intended when they wrote the Constitution. We shouldn’t be using impeachment as a political tool. No matter how much we don’t like the person in the White House. If this happens, we set the stage for future impeachment’s over petty reasons, not just cause. That is obviously not a quote, it’s the sentiment of what they said. It was too long ago for me to remember an exact quote. By the way they weren’t wrong. Since then there has at least been a suggestion of impeachment for every President since.
The biggest reason the Dems did not turn on Clinton during his impeachment was that he was charged with misdeeds which arguably had nothing to do with his duties as President.
He lied under federal oath and maybe obstructed justice too. He was guilty, no doubt. But it was about his sex life, so a lot of people didn't really care.
In a similar way, the Republicans don't care that Donald Trump admitted on the Billy Bush tape that he grabbed women in his pageants by the pussy and forcibly kissed them without their consent. That is sexual assault, but he still got elected, at least by the electoral college count.
I don't know how this is going to play out politically for the Dems. Trump won't be convicted in the Senate, that's for sure. It may backfire on the Dems or it may really fire up their voters for 2020, giving them a great turnout. We'll just have to wait and see.
Lol he said when you're a star they let you grab them by the pussy. There was no admission that he actually did it. Stop watching the fake news!
Sureklown, The impeachment could very well be DZoA at the Senate. Sorry fool but Biden will be going down .As a slumlord , with inherited property, you should be ashamed of your Womanly political views. Most Men are proud to be financially responsible.
Back then I considered myself a Reagan Republican. That party no longer exists.
I remember thinking the impeachment was stupid. Back then, what married man wouldn’t lie about getting his dick sucked. The only reason they got him is that skank saved her spooge stained dress.
The dem support during the election will be about the candidate. Can they excite and mobilize minority voters?
Trump won because Black voters didn’t turn out for Hillary like they did President Obama.
Hate for Trump won’t be enough.
Pelosi is a hater, once a hater always a hater!
Lou.....there you go again just stating facts....
They like to keep embellishing the story....each reporter hears something and enhances it a bit.
It is like that old 'telephone game'.....keep whispering in a person's ear as the story changes over and over again.
Trump swatted a fly and eventually it will be reported he murdered someone....
It really depends how a trial is run in the Senate. Republicans will be trying to turn it into a mockery trying to bring is Biden's etc...things that have nothing to do with Trump's conduct. If Justice John Roberts make all the decision like a real judge would in a trial. Bring witnesses like Bolton, Rudy G,Mulvaney and Pompeo under oath people actually involved with this issue that would give the best chance at getting to the bottom on it.
Trump hasn't given the house ANY relevant documents and not let any relevant witnesses testify. Total and complete obstruction.
The facts are not friendly to the President.
The President is not fact friendly.
My dream scenario:
they stretch out the Senate trial and while the trial is going on, He gets re-elected in November, gets removed from office in December and get re-inaugurated in January as #47
THEN... his first term gets uncounted since he didn't get to finish it and he gets to run for a third term!
wow - the stuff they sell now is soooooo much stronger than it was back in my day

yawn...........................

don't say War or Hate when speaking about Speaker Palosi . She's a Catholic remember. lets not insult her that way.
*Pelosi
Speaker Pelosi
I don't think so, that would be hearsay.
Yup, that's her.
What Pelosi said about not hating is just crazy. This whole thing is about nothing but hate. The Dumbocrats will never forgive Trump beating Hillary.
You do not even have to like Trump to feel some empathy for him.
I could not vote for either of the major candidates in 2016, but the next round goes to Trump. Just look at the horrendous alternative.
Chuck... that is me. Didn’t vote for Sir Hairdoo in 16... but will be voting for him in 20 unless some surprise candidate enters the race. I’ll take the Orangeman over the current field.
What's Rudy doing in Ukraine? Working with the Ukranians to root out corruption.
Trump not defending himself? Don't worry, he'll defend himself in the Senate trial, where Republicans will set the rules and hearsay will be inadmissable.
What's wrong with Nunes? Adam Schiff abused his subpoena power to obtain the private phone records of Nunes and journalist John Solomon.

Wish people weren't so polarized to realize that some points the other side make are sensible.
But, c'mon, withholding military aid to get a foreign government to investigate the guy you're likely to face in a political election is just flat-out wrong. Maybe not removal-from-office-worthy, but it's very wrong.
No it’s removal from office bad! He is a total traitor to the constitution of the USA 🇺🇸!!! He needs to go now!
Articles of impeachment are the set of charges drafted against a public official to initiate the impeachment process. The articles of impeachment do not result in the removal of the official, but instead require the enacting body to take further action, such as bringing the articles to a vote before the full body.
In the United States, the articles of impeachment are drafted by the House of Representatives for cases involving federal officials. Once drafted, a supermajority of the United States Senate is required to convict based on the articles.
A person of a high office must be removed upon impeachment if they have committed a high misdemeanor, a felony, or treason, they are nevertheless subject to indictment under the law. An impeachment trial is carried out in the Senate, with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court presiding if the impeachment involves the President. Impeachment can expand beyond senior members of the White House. A Supreme Court of the United States Justice may be impeached for committing a high misdemeanor, treason, or a felony. Impeachment charges must be drafted in the House of Representatives. The trial for the person undergoing such occurs in the Senate, requiring two thirds of the members present (currently 67 out of 100 senators, assuming all present) to successfully remove a public official from office.
(If not all Senators were present, a quorum would be needed for a vote. In the U.S. Senate a quorum is half plus one, or 51 out of 100. If only the minimum for a quorum were present, two thirds would mean 34 voting in favor of impeachment.)

“Wish people weren't so polarized to realize that some points the other side make are sensible.”
+10000
Unfortunately, people aren’t able to see nuance.
‘He is a total traitor to the constitution of the USA 🇺🇸!!!” (Perfect example)
Really... total traitor? Not... I believe he abused his power. It has to be, “He is a total traitor.”
“but he still got elected, at least by the electoral college count.” - Bigseeker
You know that is the only way to get elected.... Right?
I said it before... Hillary was able to count to almost 66,000,000 but couldn’t count to 270... which is the only number that counts in a Presidential election.
304 to 227.
Hillary won California by 3 million votes. She won the popular vote by about 3 million. That is exactly why the Electoral College exists. One or two high population states (CA/NY) with regional interests and mindsets would be determining factor in every national election. So they weight votes rather than count votes.
Imagine working for a factory. 100 people work on the factory floor. 20 in management. 10 in accounting. 5 in HR. 15 in shipping and receiving. 10 in purchasing. 2 in IT.
If things were decided by popular vote... the interests of the factory floor workers would win every time. It wouldn’t be a good place for others to work.
It’s the same idea in Presidential elections. In our model, every state and region becomes important. The interests of Wyoming count in a weighted system. The interests of North Dakota and Indiana matter.

Impeach the bum, but don’t touch the economy!
The House should drop the impeachment farce, pass a resolution censuring the President over the phone call, and get on with the country's business, like passing the US-Mexico-Canada trade agreement.
Kaiser and Schubert....there you go again....actually making some sense for this country.
Schubert... you are right, but the Democrats are so far down the road... they can't switch tactics now. They have claimed our entire democracy is being threatened by this phone call. You can't back-up once you state something that strongly.
It's going from, "Don't drink that! Its poison. You will die!" to "Don't drink that. It doesn't taste good."
Pelosi knew this was the wrong move. She tried to save the Dems... but the extremists wouldn't listen and forced her hand. Now they are going to have to eat this shit sandwich.
They lose in the Senate and it won't even be close. They might not even pass it in the house now. If she had the votes... They'd be voting this week. There are too many Democrats in tight races in districts Trump won in 2016.
So what do they do? Vote for impeachment? Risk losing their seat? All so this can go to the senate and lose?
Then, not only does Trump win in the senate... but he wins re-election and the Democrats lose important seats in the house.
Yikes!
It is a moral imperitive that the house votes for impeachment irrespective of what they think the senate may do. The need for history to record the vote of every senator is paramount above any consideration of how it effects the upcoming election.
By the way, that was the dumbest defense of the electoral college ever given. In a factory there is only ONE vote, the owner. The only reason the EC exists as the smaller southern states would not ratify the constitution without it. There only goal was to preserve slavery.
Maybe those fools will try to impeach Giuliani. What a cluster fuck!
