The reason I don't like the electoral college is because it makes my vote (from California) irrelevant. Anyone in California that doesn't vote democrat don't get their vote counted towards who becomes president. All California electoral college votes always go to the democrats. So what is the point of even voting when my vote is meaningless?
Also, none of the candidates campaign in California to try to get votes because they already know what the outcome is. The few times they come here is only to get campaign donations.

The only general election votes that matter are from Florida, Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and a few other Midwest states. Otherwise, the only reason the candidates come to the states with high Cook ratings are for donor $$$.

To those complaining about their conservative votes not counted in CA, the same argument can be made in red states by blue voters.
Not sure I would say the electoral college is racist. It was well thought out to give everyone representation during presidential elections. While it may have worked well up until about the mid 80's, it is becoming obsolete for the current time. Time for reform.
I agree with the gentleman above about his vote not being counted in CA. Everyone votes should be counted. I am not suggesting doing away with the electoral college, but it can be tweaked.

I think CA conservatives might console themselves that there is beginning to be a shift. Some folks are realizing that the Dumbocrat leadership in this state have failed so miserably.
The Dumbocrat candidate may still win CA but not by the margins that Hillary did.

Is it better to need to concentrate your campaign in 5-8 states, or 3-4 cities.
Either way you feel about that, the electoral college is a system that protects minority rights. Funny how when the minorities become part of the majority, they want to flush that type of protection.
If the Democrats were smart they would start paying out a stipend for Democrat voters to move to other parts of the country!

There will always be a political ebb and flow.
People have their panties in a bunch over Trump now. He will be gone at the latest in 2024.
He will seat at least 2 more Judges if he wins. (Ginsburg is holding on by a thin thread hoping he loses in November so she can die on January 21st)

That big dummy has buildings all over the world with his name on them. He commands the most effective military the world has ever seen. He can, at his word, give hope nations or have someone killed 3 continents away. He is the President of the United States of America having received over 63,000,000 votes over 50 states and multiple territories.
But you... Are a so powerful level 3 on an obscure website. Your greatest power is you might be able to have someone voted off the site if you can uses your influence to get 30 or 40 people to vote with you. Odds are you can’t even do that. The number of votes you received to lead anything...and in the number of states... I can count on... NO HANDS.

Review the 2016 campaign and how Hillary ignored Democratic strongholds - not even visiting, just assuming she would win - Trump campaigned & won those states & thus the presidency.
Do away with Electoral college, and nobody would campaign in perhaps 3/5 of the country.

He would be rejected for even the most basic level of clearance. His own staff admits that he doesnt read and has a short attention span. When he was elected in 16 the furor started... and not much has changed. The rhetoric keeps getting ratcheted up... neither side is moving the needle of public opinion. Those who hated Trump in June... still hate him. Those who loved Trump in June... still love him.
Those of us that aren’t sucked in by the media conglomerates, who benefit from the tension, are just standing by to see what things look like next fall. I know I am sick of all the political maneuvering.
He won. Get over it. There is a mechanism in place to remove a president you don’t like or you think is doing a bad job. It’s called an election. It’s less than a year away.
Whether he is re-elected in November... or not. America will survive.
The extreme fear mongering rhetoric contributes to the atmosphere... but ... it’s a viscous circle. You attack, he responds. He attacks... your side responds. Each side gets louder and more ridiculous! AND they blame each other.

Lastly, Life will go on no matter who is president. I only get worried when one party controls all all three branches. I like gridlock. It’s a safety mechanism. It makes change slow and difficult.
So if the right wins the house back, keeps the senate and Trump is re-elected... you can bet your ass I’ll be voting for a Democrat in 2022 hoping to give the Dems a little power to resist.
If the Dems sweep Trump out, keep the house and win the senate... I’ll be voting to give the Repubs a little power back.
