We have Christmas Eve dinner, watch a bad movie, go to bed, and the kids open presents on Xmas morning.

Christmas eve with one wing of the family, Christmas day with another. We host both. Which presents some housekeeping challenges in those few hours between one group's departure and the next group's arrival.
"OK, which one a you shit-for-brains puked in the guest bathroom and forgot to tell me til 5 minutes before guests arrive!?!??"

I have been part of an event the last 10 years on Xmas ever for the last 10 years. It is a lot of fun and we see many less fortunate people and then have dinner with friends around 9pm. Relax on Xmas and spend time with family on the 26th.
