I have the boxed checked in my account settings to send me mail when I get a pm message from someone. It doesn't seem to be working.
I use gmail.
Can I reset this?

Did you click on update settings once you checked that box?

I haven't been in that settings page at all. At least that I remember.
I'll try toggling it and hitting update settings.

Gmail promotions filtering was getting in the way.
My stupidity.
