Interesting convo, lots of angles to consider.
Just so you know going forward, JoJo. I've been a registered independent for over 20 years after having been both a Dem and a Rep prior to. After realizing that you have to be willing to drink either blue or red kool-aid in order to believe the bullshit that both major parties spew, i got sane and got out. I used Chicago in the example only because it made the statement "vote early, vote often" famous, not for any other reason. And, it was about organized crime, not a political party per se. So, it was kinda interesting watching you guys make all kinds of assumptions about the comment.
I won't make any assumptions about you, but in general, most populations fall under the standard bell curve. While people may call themselves Dems or Reps, polling data shows that the majority are moderate, somewhere in the middle. In other words, as expected, roughly 68% falls within 1 standard deviation either direction.
That's America right there, mostly moderate regardless of the labels used. Then there's the outliers sitting outside of 2 standard deviations, either right or left.
Is that you? Only you can say. One thing is for sure though, for a group of people who supposedly hate intolerance, there seems to be a lot of it.
