Morning Joe took Imus's place on MSNBC years ago. Imus had a popular radio show for like 40 years.
Some of you Republican members (notice I didn't say Trump supporters) may enjoy this uncomfortable speech he gave at the Correspondents Dinner when Bill Clinton was in office.

There was something about Imus, you tuned in because you thought you had to keep an eye on him and the crazy things he was thinking and/or saying.
Now a days we just have look at Trump's twitter feed to see what people like that are thinking.

There is something about driving your vehicle and listening to talk radio. Don Imus, Art Bell, George Noory, Howard Stern, Paul Harvey, Tom Snyder and even Rush Limbaugh in small doses and many others. It is relaxing and when you are on a long drive by yourself you feel like there is someone next to you.

The only reason I know Imus is he got called out for calling a girls basketball team as some nappy headed hos.

I forgot the exact comment. He said a lot of racist and near racist things on his radio show over the year. He made sure you knew he was a Republican. There is something really similar to the people who religiously listened to Imus and the people who religiously support Trump. Both say a lot of racist and bigoted things, they are both out spoken and both are kind of crazy and whatever is rolling around in their heads.

never hear imus's show, only heard of him from stern decades ago

Stern went to war with Imus. It was ruthless. Imus eventually cried uncle.
When Imus retired, last year, part of his retirement monologue referred negatively to Stern without saying his name. Howard got a week’s worth of material just making fun of that.
It will be interesting to see what Howard does when he returns from his Christmas break on Jan 6.
I listened/ watched Imus from time to time... he never really made me laugh.
