I, and no one I have heard from, will shed a tear for the demise of Soleimani.
But sometimes the right thing to do is not the smart thing to do.
In this risk vs reward scenario only time will tell.
It is unlikey the Iranians will go too far in their retaliation, but they will most certainly respond.
I am no fan of the POTUS, in fact I think he is a despicable, self centered, racist, and callous human being who shoots from the hip and often lets his ego drive his decisions. That said, it is because of his personality traits and not know how he will respond that I think the Iranians will be careful in devising a measured response. In other words, we may acutally get away with taking out a murderous thug and not end up in another mideast blood bath and loss of thousands of lives. American and Mideastern.

I said this in another blog, but I’ll say it again here.
I have read articles from multiple viewpoints, and based on these, I don't see this turning into a full-scale war, but I think things will escalate, with Iran's use of terror networks and military proxies and with the US using more conventional military means to attack strategic Iranian targets. But things will eventually die down, with negotiations to end hostilities and possibly begin work on a new diplomatic agreement being brokered by the European Union or Arab intermediaries. I think we will make our point to Iran that we won't tolerate the further death of Americans and destruction of American property. This is a red line they were crossing with impunity the last month or so, and they needed to be pushed back, without any doubt.
This may end up being Trump’s finest hour and the first remarkable thing he has done as President, if he can see this through, as I’ve laid out.

As for the comments regarding his election.
Trump is the Constitutionally elected President of the U.S.
That can not be challenged.
But in an election where 54% of those who bothered to vote, chose to vote for someone else, it can not be said he was the choice of the American people (at least not of those who bothered to get off their asses and vote!)

And as for the comment about if Trump lost Texas, Hillary would be president. It is correct to say she still would not have had enough electoral votes to be President. But in that scenario, neither would Trump.
Hillary would have reached 263
Trump 268
Both short of the requried 270
This is because 7 "faithless" memembers of the College voted for neither Trump or Clinton.
Had this played out, the selection of our President would have been thrown to the House Of Representatives which likey would have chosen Trump since it was heavily weighted in favor of Republicans,
However, at that point in time, the Republican party had not fully been converted to the party of Trump, so who knows what would have happened, Certainly the House would not have selected Hillary, But since the 12th Amendment states that the House CAN choose ANY of the
TOP 3 eclectoral vote recipents, they could have voted for the guy who finished 3rd. In other words, since he got 3 votes, John Kasic could be our President.
BTW - Spotted Eagle finished in tie for 4th place with 1 vote.

Serious waste of time reading a blog not driven by partisan thuggery, so disappointing.
With about half of eligible voters pulling the handle and about half of those who pulled the handle having voted Trump, that means about 1/4 of the eligible population decided our president.
Personally, I couldn't decide between the Abolitionist Party and the Nutritionist Party, so I stayed home to eat bear claws and drink Tequila.

Will say again. Iran has been exploring how far they can go and how much they can get away with. Trump has served notice just where the limits are.
Iran knows they are about a fourth rate military power and will never outright confront the U. S. directly. They do everything on the sneak using proxy countries.
This did not take take brilliance, just some fortitude. Something Trumps empty suit predecessor was severely lacking.
You don’t have to like Trump, but you probably better vote for him.

Iran just found out that Trump is NOT Obama.
Iran had its way for the entire 8 years under Obama. And they got the 'deal of a century', getting all the money back that had been seized in a one sided agreement with little checks and balances.

He is trying. Unfortunately, Iran had 8 years to do whatever it wanted and got pretty bold.
They now need to be put in their place. It won't be a prolonged encounter. They have combined military forces of about 400,000. 350,000 army which is made up of 2/3 of those who are conscripted not volunteers. When the fighting gets going, how many of those do you think will fight to their death......
They have a 'decent' air force with a little less than 350 fighters, but it is unknown how many of those are actually fully operational for combat.

No difference between Trump blowing up Soleimani and Obama blowing up bin Laden. In fact Obama killed hundreds, if not thousands, by drone bombings in multiple countries and my only criticism is that he could've got even more if he had tried. By comparison, Trump's a pussy and got a lot of catching up to do.

Then explain how killing 1 person stops an attack described as "eminent" from being carried out.? Sounds like building a false narrative to me. He's doing the exact thing he said he would never do. Clearly the supreme leader has to consider that as Iran considers the potential responses to what the U.S. has done.
It will be interesting now to see if there is a U.S. diplomatic initiative to reach out to Iran and to say, ‘Okay, the next move could be strikes against your oil infrastructure and your forces in your country—where does that end?’”

For irrational intellectual incoherence, he gets an A plus. It's easy to hate Trump but if you're unable to acknowledge that, at least in this regard, Obama and Trump acted in a similar fashion by drone bombing the shit out of an enemy, well.....
