But he does hate Trump and was the only Republican Senator to both vote to prolong the impeachment hearing in the Senate along with all Democrats, and the two Independents like Bernie. Even Susan Collins acquitted. Overall , its been a bad week for the Democrats, between the Iowa Caucus debacle, Pelosi tearing up the speech on national tv ,and the Trump acquittal. Democrats have a long uphill climb if they want the White House and Congress back in their control.

With their impeached President Trump they think they are doing great. For example they brag that Trump "created 7.3 million jobs in just three years." But Obama created 8.3 million jobs in his last three years. They will tell you that the truth and OMB statistics are all lies.

I’m not sure what the stabbing McCain in the back comment is about... but... I think one of the difference between the left and the right is the right doesn’t marry candidates or issues for life.
There is this weird idea that you have to agree with everything about a candidate and everything they stand for in order to support them.
1. I don’t like what Romney did because I don’t believe it was a selfless act done out of conviction. I feel like it was cloaked in things to make it palatable. I think Trump was guilty... but that the Democrats didn’t even come close to proving it.
2. I think Trump is an asshole. I think he is an extreme narcissist. I think he did exactly what he was accused of doing. Even with those things being true, I still think he is the best available choice right now... so what does that say about the current field of challengers?
3. The idea of “Christian” forgiveness in a political context shows the lack of ability of nuanced thinking. Blanket forgiveness of everybody for everything... all the time is a distortion of the Christian belief system. Most forms of forgiveness are conditional. Then there are differ contexts where forgiveness can be expressed, all with varying degrees of responsibility for the involved parties : there is God’s eternal forgiveness of “sin”, man’s forgiveness of wrong doing against God, man’s forgiveness of wrong doing towards each other... vs disagreement on issues and implementation of policy and program. The idea of a one size fits all in every situation weakens the concept of forgiveness and personal responsibility.
Where there are some Republicans that “hate” Romney and would damn him to hell, most simply say he is wrong and did something out of a selfish, personal, political agenda and as a result has lost the privilege of representing their position.
The media stokes the fires of hate and division. It brings viewers, serves as click-bait and as a result sells advertising.

What we lost, probably a good while ago, is the ability to be tolerant. Tolerance is the key to good society. Saying that you are "tolerant, but..." is a lie. Tolerance only matters when it is hard to do, when you don't agree.
Being tolerant, accepting of other's realities enables us to find compromise and middle ground. And upon reading this, I suggest you do not start pointing fingers at either party -- both are guilty (though research shows that the right tends to be more tolerant of opposing views) or guilty enough that it breeds a cycle of intolerance. If you want it to stop, then you must stop.
And then real conversation happens.

Everyone, Trump included (lol how's the "drain the swamp" going) has a vested financial interest in keeping the status quo.
They don't care about you. DC has done nothing for you in the past... 6 or 7 years or so. The best we can say is that they didn't repeal the ACA, but they still managed to gut it in the process.
The average person has gotten *nothing* from this presidency. (and desperately little from the Obama presidency, before y'all start griping about how big a Democrat I am) The everyday life of Joe Schmoe has not changed for the better, wages are stagnant, healthcare is unaffordable, housing is unaffordable, and millions of Americans are food insecure.
They don't want you to keep your job, they don't want to keep jobs from getting shipped overseas (why would they? they profit from it), they don't want to cut your taxes unless you're also part of the 1%, they don't want you to have affordable healthcare or affordable medication or affordable housing. They'll make noise about it, because they know that you'll vote for them because of it, but Congress and the Presidency will never actually make any moves to help you achieve those things because it doesn't benefit them.
They do, however, benefit from the division, knee-jerking, "my party has always been better!!!!!", chemtrail, flat-earth attitudes because it keeps people distracted from all the underhanded shit they're actually doing. BOTH parties are doing.
