The industry I am in dried up overnight. (Live events of various kinds)
Multi-million dollar projects canceled left and right.
They laid off 20 people last week and another 5 this week. We are a medium sized business, about 250-300 people.
Today our Irvine office is winding down operations with no idea when we will be back.
Business's our sized and smaller are in jeopardy of folding with nothing to replace it.
The economic fallout from this will be breathtaking.

I'm in hospitality, and I've been home the last couple days.
I'm on call, at the moment.
Thankfully, I'm maxed out on vacation & sick time.

Small business owner, Less than $10 Million revenue. Business off 80%, likely shutting down for the duration. Going to be a rough ride for a bit.

I just started working a full-time job less than a month ago, and I am cut down to one shift a week. It will be no shifts if we close until it's over. 
Sucks I was just starting to catch up on everything, and boom taken away. I applied to be an shopper, but there is a wait. I may go stock shelves somewhere, but worried about getting my elderly parents sick. Not sure what to do, but Pray.

It's looking pretty dire, but most businesses will reopen or new businesses will emerge to fill the void. Little consolation, to be sure, but it's not the end of the world.

There’s NO WAY they can just say don’t work....stay home....and not compensate when a staggering percentage of the American public lives paycheck to paycheck.....
Just like they cannot lock you in your homes as a result of quarantine when they cannot prove you’re infected. Quarantine is for sick peoples.....to sequester a healthy person without provocation is an infringement on human rights.
What about people that are homeless? Where are they quarantined too....

There are places hiring. Or you can coordinate with others YOU TRUST and create some income. Food prep/delivery entrepreneurship seems to be taking off.
But stay safe.

NY Gov said that the City will not allow any eviction (business or residential) notices to be given for 90 days from the start of their order - which is this Sunnday apparently.
Id expect CA to follow suit - that is just my opinion so dont take it as gospel as im wrong all the time.
The other thing the NOV gov said - so you evict someone - all well and good -but you cant show the property to anyone and who is likely to be able to take up payments in this environment.
Its a reasonable point - but im also not a landlord looking for my income from it.

What does that mean tho? All of those people that started getting laid off this week have not been reported officially to the public yet, and when they do next thursday, I speculate the market will bleed in reaction to all of their consumers being without work and without money.

I heavily suggest all of you my age or younger still thinking you is invincble... spend this time picking up on skills that don't involve shopping or dropping off burgers or shaking ass lol. Use all that time at home you normally spend on dumb shit like following IG influencers and YouTube makeup tutorials and instead learn about the stock market or emerging market trends, and like uhh, really try. Use that brain for more than watching other people do shit you all aren't doing lol. All you have is time now so don't wast it on Netflix and chill and then in 9 months start stressing out abuelita (if she is still alive) because you got another mouth to feed.
All these grandpas are in a buyers market now and while I too will savor these next months like the rest of those Boomers I also feel bad knowing that this experiential way of existing as you all know it is gone.

I just started a new job last Monday. Mtg lending.
I have a guarantee salary and lucky enough to have a background
So they won’t let me go. But it’s going to be a
Long road back to where we use to be.
Rates should be low but they actually raised them!
But they will come down eventually. Give it 30 days.

This going to be a massive domino effect. I busted my ass to invest in income property and have done well over the years but......I am anticipating that none of my tenants are going to be able to pay rent in a couple of weeks. I guess I can keep their deposit and that gets me by for a month but what happens after that? Can't evict in good conscience. And if we are all able to go back to work in a month, who is going to have rent money when they haven't worked in 6 to 8 weeks, paid cc bills, food and living expenses. Am I going to have to "Bail out" my retirement? Loose over $1M in in hard earned investment...my retirement? Here we go again! The big banks will again win! Just like they say, you owe the banks $3M you have a problem, you owe the bank $300M they have a problem. I should have gone BIG! Everyone is going to get set back 10+ years on this this mess! Everyone is go to get hurt.....and hurt bad!

I think once we, hopefully, get past the contagiousness of this virus, and the businesses feel comfortable traveling again, the economy will pick up. Once there is demand for business travel, there'll be demand for hotels, and restaurants, and car rentals, etc. Then there'll be demand for airline travel, bringing back the airlines, which will bring back demand for other ancillary businesses, gyms, beauty salons, landscapers, etc.
We just have to survive these next 30 days or so.

Banks, Lenders, Landlords will let you pay your rent late or defer payment for xyz months
La county mandated no one can be evicted during this.
I worked in real estate law and foreclosures. Don't worry. I suggest not making your payment if ur credit sucks and hold on to your cash if u don't have much. Lenders will give forbearance agreements, can roll months unpaid into the back of the loan and remodify rates due to hardship.
Utilities won't cut ur power water or gas by law
Gas will b 2 bucks
So really. Instead of worrying about your bills
Please, realize we all need to stay home and let the virus die out and stop spreading.
Get your items, food, toiletries, meds, cleaning etc and stay home. Go out for air and sun need be. Go for a drive if it's ok.
But it needs to be done together
All the Nice things I mentioned above about not needing money to pay certain things because you are
Essentially untouchable from losing your dwelling or utilities is

The government COVERING the essentials for you. Besides delivering food to your door.

I have 2 rental properties, not in California, and told my property manager to inform my renters that they're NOT to pay the rent for the next 2 months. They've been in the properties for awhile and are very good tenants. Would really hate to lose them. It'll be tight making the payments but I'm sure they're in worse positions then I am. I'll let them skate as long as the crisis lasts ... or I go broke.

I Can say truley as I am versed in all three maybe 4 fields, that healthcare, notary refinance, work from home clinical research and private duty cna care are all exploding right now. Fortunately,I can do all of these inbetween the downfall as these are all considered essential elements. their jobs permanently because the company they work for can't afford to reopen.
The govt won't allow that.
I think many businesses will reopen, regardless of what the govt says, after two weeks.
Owners are not foolish, they have to stay in business and keep their employees.
I expect a lot of rumbling by owners over the next 2 weeks.

Another said part of the economy and ladies losing their waitress jobs is it makes them more volnerable if they do not have other means of income. I have seen a number of blogs on one of the NC forums where men are talking about how great this is for them that now they will able to have the upper hand over certain entertainment situations now that younger gals wont have their part time jobs anymore. They see it as an advantage for them that they will be more gals available to entertain at beter rates. Very sad!
