Many people more knowledgeable about this than me.
I've read that ibuprofen breaks down your immune system more than something like Tylenol, acetaminophen, does.

Without clinical trials, it’s hard to say what medicine works , or hurts, or doesn’t work. That’s what Dr. Fauci says on a daily basis.

Unless you've got a supporting paper that's been peer reviewed by reliable doctors I would discount this.
If nothing else I would follow the advice of a medical professional you trust to be the most knowledgeable on the subject of treating the symptoms of this virus.
Hearsay during a crisis can be worse that the crisis itself.

I normally make jokes on these blogs but at this moment I'm being completely serious: I agree with NPembrush. I've noticed on these blogs that people take hearsay and will repeat as Gospel. If there is any truth to that allegation, let your Doctor confirm it. Don't make medical decisions based on these blogs.

Some doctors suggest to avoid. Don't see why not use something else instead.

The issue I have is that doctors as well as experts are concerned. Doctors have been very busy, no time to read about new findings on this virus . And being a new virus, researchers are still learning.
I'm taking three natural approach. Eat healthy, probiotics, fermented food. Strong gut health , equals strong immune system, makes sense to me.

Certainly agree with the last comment. Eat healthy, exercise, and stay away from people is the ticket for me.

Here you go... from Harvard Medical School (see link below):
Is it safe to take ibuprofen to treat symptoms of COVID-19?
Some French doctors advise against using ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil, many generic versions) for COVID-19 symptoms based on reports of otherwise healthy people with confirmed COVID-19 who were taking an NSAID for symptom relief and developed a severe illness, especially pneumonia. These are only observations and not based on scientific studies.
The WHO initially recommended using acetaminophen instead of ibuprofen to help reduce fever and aches and pains related to this coronavirus infection, but now states that either acetaminophen or ibuprofen can be used. Rapid changes in recommendations create uncertainty. Since some doctors remain concerned about NSAIDs, it still seems prudent to choose acetaminophen first, with a total dose not exceeding 3,000 milligrams per day.
However, if you suspect or know you have COVID-19 and cannot take acetaminophen, or have taken the maximum dose and still need symptom relief, taking over-the-counter ibuprofen does not need to be specifically avoided.
Seems like many articles online claiming at one time or another that the World Health Organization says either Ibuprofen is safe or not safe for people battling COVID-19, but I am not finding either side currently on their website. The most recent thing I could find about Ibuprofen on their website related to infectious diseases had to do with Dengue Fever and/or Ebola and are from a decade ago.

A state medical PA has told me to avoid Ibuprofen til after. No studies conducted just her observations and what she has been directed.

the reason they dont want to take advil is because they think it will mask your symptoms
personally i think this whole virus bunch excuse to make you broke
again its my personal opinion please dont start an argument with me

Thanks for all the input. I will err on the side of caution. No Ibuprophen until June.
Of much more concern is how long until I am able to safely see any of the ladies of HX. That is certainly more disconcerting than my choice of pain reliever.
Stay home and wash your hands. That is the plan for success.

Fistfyghter I want to know when I can travel and see all my nice friends.
Staying inside driving me crazy!!!

I have family in the medical field. They have said it is best to avoid using it if you are experiencing any of the COVID 19 symptoms.
|
|
I heard that about Advil and ibuprofen whatever ingredients are in it does kick start the virus and makes you worse.
|

I went to target and there was no more tylenol/aspirin

Many medical sites initially recommended that one avoid ibuprofen, on the theory that it's mild immune-suppressant action could render one a bit more susceptible to Covid - 19.
That advice has been countered by subsequent information. These same medical sites are now saying it's ok to take ibuprofen amidst the Covid-19 outbreak.

CDC responded to all the reports with a statement today that ibuprofen does not impact the Virus. It is a fever reducer, like Tylenol and Aleve, and its ad campaigns all stress that.
That said, if you feel feverish or worried about this, just take something else.
Unless you read a story published by a major newspaper that references a CDC, WHO or HHS spokesman, or go to the CDC or WHO website itself, give it some social separating before believing it. In the Twitter/FB universe, believing nothing, check everything.

Have always alternated ibuprofen, then Tylenol, to break a fever.
|
|
Also, try sitting on a bucket of ice. Side effects may include Shrinkage, but it should reduce you Fever.
