I will never understand why

Why not wear a seatbelt?
Cars kill people. Every day.

I was driving on the 10 fwy last night when the car in front of me started to slowdown naturally I go to try to get around when I see a three car collision that literally just happened (I heard the boom but thought it was on the other side) glass everywhere. I drive around it and probably like a good 10 ft maybe 15... I see a woman laying in the road trying to get up. I was horrified. Still haunting me now that shit was terrifying.

I’m a seatbelt wearer it’s second nature to me thank goodness but like I said I’ll never understand why someone wouldn’t wear it.

I hope no young ones saw that. I hope she’s ok. Be safe out there...put it on! Doesn’t matter if you’re just going down the street.

Ouch. In other countries ( a lot of Asian countries), seat belts are optional. A lot of times cars are filled over the capacity of seats in the car.

Speeds are a lot lower in those countries, but they never follow any traffic laws and go in every direction possible.

I once saw a person near my home get hit by a car. The guy flew about 20 feet in the air and died when he hit the ground. Apparently, he was trying to cat call a girl and ran across the street to get her attention.

I saw a woman get hit by a car like 10 years ago. It took me about a year to get the image out of my dreams. It was traumatic for sure.

"Kind of a 'good news, bad news' there. I was able to be on the scene so quickly because I was in the car that hit her".

"Oh, I am taking responsibility. And it is up to me to get rid of the curse that hit Meredith with my car".

"I have flaws. What are they? Oh, I dunno. I sing in the shower. Sometimes I spend too much time volunteering. Occasionally, I'll hit somebody with my car".

Absolutely agree with OP.

I just lost someone very close to me this way.

No safety belt. Car flipped in rainy conditions.

They were ejected from the car and died on impact.

18 years old.

It's just not worth the risk!

Years ago, a woman in a VW was launched out the front windshield when hitting a large truck. The windshield stripped her of much of her clothing. It happened in front of my office window and you could see her near naked body (only wearing undergarments) pinned against the wheel of the truck. We went out and tried to put a blanket over her body out of respect, as the police officers of Irvine and Newport tried to decide whose case it was...the collision occurred in Newport but the body was lying in Irvine.....that image is burned into my memory...I wear my seat belt even when backing down my driveway.

"Wear one if you like but it shouldn't be a law."

As long as I don't have to pay for your ass to get medical attention, but we know that's not the case in this fucked up state. So it has to be a law.

My neighbor got hit at a four way stop. The other driver never even slowed down and ran the stop hitting and totaling my friend's car. The car that ran the stop her passenger went through the windshield. He swore he had his seatbelt on.

I remember years ago I went to Zimbowie Africa for my honeymoon. While on a safari sightseeing tour I witnessed a collision when a African messenger failed to yield and Tboned another barefoot African running perpendicular from a group of lions he stole the Waterbuffalo Tbone from.
It was horrible. Them dirt trails need stop signs to keep this from ever happening again.

Motorcycles dont have seatbelts or airbags

Honda Gold Wings have airbags and Polaris Slingshots have seatbelts.

The airbag is almost a standard feature on the machine called a Hardly Davidson.
One needs the permission to purchase a HD from the airbag.

On the back of a motorcycle like a sportbike you will not see an airbag.

Helmets and seat belts are better than nothing I guess.
If you have an impact with a sudden stop on a motorcycle while wearing a helmet and your legs get stuck on the handlebars and you don't fly off the bike it can break your neck.
Helmets don't do much to stop broken legs, broken ribs, arms, hands, and all that good stuff.

If I have to wear a seatbelt I prefer a 6 point harness.
