As long as you are careful checking out the property. Photos can be taken to show the good things but not the bad. Friend of mine got a place through AirBnb in Cambria, Total disaster. The place was a little run down, the wifi didn't work, and the sleeper coach had a mattress about an inch thick, so they felt the springs digging in all night.

Nah man. Look up the news about hidden cams in those places and LE or AB&B won’t do shit cause it’s private property.
Yeah you can get devices to locate them but that’s more work and expense for me and if you tamper with them you are violating private property.
If you’re not a total idiot a hotel is just fine.

There are many sites like AirBnB to choose from. WIth a little reading between the lines, doing some homework and being smart, I find them more comfortable and safe.
Hotels have cameras everywhere as well, and staff that monitor activities. So that is really no different than renting an apt or house.
The advantage is the cost and the size of the place you are getting and how long you are going to stay.
Both have their pros and cons. Both require homework and smarts. Do what's best for you and what you are more comfortable with.

Yes, the airbnb will bide cameras. I kbow several girls who've
been told they're not wanted back.
Even have friends who rent airbnb's say of course I have cameras. Need to protect my stuff!
Plus, you'll have nosey neighbors rat on you saying all these guys come in and out at all hours.

if you head to europe with two little ones they want you to get two rooms and rarely waver
so found some amazing bnb or vrbo shit out there. reviews are important
if you wanna get a great feel for living in venice...bnb/vrbo could be the ticket
