C’mon, I don’t think so... He was married to a beautiful Mexican woman by the name of Esperanza Baur Díaz was a Mexican actress, and was the second wife of John Wayne. According to Wikipedia

So you are saying rename the airport Barack Obama Flight Center?
Haters (journalist) always stirring up sh*t, Leave the Duke and his airport alone...
I’m a huge John Wayne fan.
I don’t think the airport name should be changed. And we should consider the era and context when certain comments were made as we judge people from the past.
Lastly... let’s not pretend like our goal is perfection ... how about just not overtly racist as a standard.
I think we should keep the name but change the call letters from SNA to AOC! Lol!
I vote for:
John "Racist Fuck" Wayne Airport
JRFW To ATL leaves in 1 hour. Please have your boarding passes ready

As in throw you on a luggage carousel and see who claims you?
Or go eat at the IHOP
I would say the El Torino but their food mostly sucks and give you the runs
My favorite race is the Indianapolis 500. Does that make me a racist? (I'm also fond of The Kentucky Derby.)
Not racist, just married to your cousin
Hey Fubar...Do you know how to make Pickle Bread?
Answer: Use Dill Dough.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to drop a hydrogen bomb on the OC.

All that John Wayne did . . . choose not to volunteer for WW2 despite being of serving age and act? The irony of the apologists of racists who say "we can't judge their words and actions it was a different time" will also be the same people that demand that we strictly follow the words and actions of the founding fathers to interpret the constitution. At the end of the day other than five minutes of though why anyone cares about this is beyond me. Most people who fly call it Santa Ana Airport or OC airport; what ever name it has either JWA or SNA or OAC won't make a difference to 99.99% of us; it won't take away a dollar or add a dollar to our bottom line; and JW ancestors whoever they may be won't care 1 bit about you for fighting for it or against it.
So John Wayne's life is equivalent to MLK. . . yeah I can see that sure
if you are going to be an apologist for a flawed movie star maybe choose Audie Murphy- the most decorated soldier in history. Put his life on the line in multiple battles - being shot, ambushed & contracting gangrene in the process. Struggled with what would now be termed as PSD today, in his later life. Better defend Audie then a simple draft dodger.
Ok Fubar- go ahead and list- what did John Wayne do? What self sacrifice for the greater good of our country did the duck do?
But yes MLK only
Led the Montgomery bus boycott
Led the Birmingham Campaign
Helped organize the march on Washington
Worked to push forward the civil rights movement
Was a Nobel Peace Price recipient
Gave his life for what he believed this country can be
Your false equivalent of Clinton is just as useless, Clinton at least stood up to serve this country, and faced the rhetoric and hatred that came with actions not to serve.
Again a false equivalent, whether we have lived up to what he strove for is an entirely different matter- your question is the difference between two actual and living men. 1 I will grant you a fine actor that should be remembered for that; 2. A man that felt we could be better for all citizens.
But I agree with you, the foolish notion that naming streets hospitals etc. . . after people will somehow magically transform them into something greater than they were the day before.
But your screed goes more to politicians patting themselves on the back for supposedly improving the facade and not getting at the root cause of why those conditions exists.
We are so naive to think that America is just this "shining city on a hill" that our greatness will inevitably come from our mere existence. Our greatness comes from our willingness to adapt, to recognize that consequences of our actions exists, that we all as a nation must strive together to move our selves forward toward a better nation.
ok so yeah, that isn't what you said and now you are trying to deflect because you realize you sounded like a window licker- but fine, then if we are going to move and improve, why is changing the name of JWA such a hot button issue? If they were to change the name to Ceasar Chavez Airport fine fight all you want.
How abut this you agree to change the name of the airport to the Manuel A. Ceniceros Airport- he died in 2004 in Anbar Province as a member of the 1st Marines - it would reflect the changing demographics of the area and honor a true hero- who sacrificed his life for our country.
John Wayne was a patriot of that I have no doubt. He can be remembered as a great American actor- we can sit around any day of the week an see how the west was won; how soldiers lived and died with quiet grace (because you know that is how it really is)
Lance Cpl. CIniceros was also a patriot; in a generation no one will remember his name another faceless soldier who died so we can have this conversation. But at least flying into Santa Ana the few bored people who are reading our debate will remember.

I can't to see Blobamas name removed from shit and watch the lefts heads explode... FUCKING COOL shit when that happens..
Hey thanks for contributing BigOnes great input, well thought out, nuanced argument. Made me really stop and think. I mean who can argue with that logic?
^ Condescending prick suck my cock!
Fuck him, why honor a dick? There's plenty of other worthy people that don't have an airport named after them.
Hey good for you Big Ones! (but you missed your day by like what 9 days). Nonetheless congratulations, you have made a big step forward- unlike your fellow "Neo-cons".
