20,000 food retailers across the country are going to raise prices and cut jobs because of this.

Yeah, a blanket statement with no facts behind it. Nothing is ever that easy nor black and white, and they are forced to take our inferior (yes, I’ve said it) products and goods juuuust to make US ego happy and whack each other off by saying we’re number 1 (surprise!!!! we’re not, but we used to be)
I’ve been to Miami, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Sydney, Malaysia, Sao Palo, Istanbul and seen first hand the trade imbalances. Met the negotiators who get the best prices for goods at 2am, the importers who bring cargo in from abroad and deal with regulations, driven with the truckers who deliver around the world, the warehouse workers who stock and care for what goes on your plate here and abroad.
I’ve formulated my opinions based on what i’ve seen, negotiated and experienced, and had the good ol’ made-in-USA disappoint. We’ve been trading on a name brand instead of a valuable commodity.
And heck, give ‘em twenty an hour. Anything that will make you turn a new color of frustrated would be worth it.

Pretty fucking simple. I've done business on every continent and giving workers pennies may work elsewhere but not here. Wanting to cut down $$ Trees and let illegals in, while citizens go homeless is fine - but there are no $$ Trees so we need to count on our own as we are the largest consumer (most goods).
Leverage, that is what America has as a consumer and trade partner - and now we have the balls to use it.

The homeless problem is not a money problem.
We (Los Angeles) have(has) spent hundreds of millions of dollars on it in the last few years.... and the problem has gotten significantly worse.
It is a strategy problem!.
I am strongly against illegal immigration... but those two issues don’t have anything to do with each other.
