I totally agree the MIC has too much power. We spend too much on insane cost overruns and $400 hammers. Much of our spending is not suited to the world today. And Congress funds projects that the Pentagon says we don't really need or want. Meanwhile, base housing and other facilities have fallen into disrepair.
However, Syria was not the place to abandon. We were getting a very good deal there. - A lot of cooperation toward Middle East stability for a very minimal US military presence. - Sort of like having a knight in just the right place in a chess game. It is just a knight, but it is doing you a whole lot of good.
The Kurds have been acting as caretakers and prison guards for family members of ISIS taken prisoner. The very people who tried to kill them, they are now taking care of, and doing a good job, from most reports. Nobody else wants to do it! Also, the small US presence there in northern Syria, along with the Kurds, has discouraged a return by ISIS or a move by Russia to fill the vacuum.
Also, the Kurds did an excellent job against ISIS, putting their necks on the line to defend their own people and hoping that maybe the US would consider keeping Turkey from committing genocide on them.
Now, if they have to defend themselves against Turkey, the Kurds will no longer have the ability to simultaneously guard those ISIS prisoners, and act as a buffer against ISIS or the Russians.
This was a bad move by the President, and a lot of his advisers surely told him this.

I also say abolish prevailing wage. No oneneedes to get paid 50 bucks an hour to push broom.
Fucking ash trays shouldn't cost 600 bucks government spend3out of control.
But it's ok to continue to tax us to death.
