^You obviously did not click on the link. It was a video of Trump at press conference saying the exact words in my post. So if you meant that Trump lied about the US being in control of the oil, then we agree. If you are claiming Trump never said it, the video makes him look dumb and you even dumber.

So you don't want to pay $1.00 a gallon?

Unreal.

LA Goats are kickin ass.

But Fubar, you know the left is hanging on his every word, ready to pounce at the slightest opening.
If you have looked at the list of Trump's "13,000" lies, they would include this as one of them....a simple statement taken totally out of context and 'fact checked.'
Heck if the news people actually covered the news they would be concerned about homeless people crapping in the streets, they would follow up on all the really stupid regulations that are being put in place here in California and look at rising gas prices.

1. Trump knows there are no US forces in Syria (because he had them withdraw), so he knows we are not in control of the oil there.
2. If he was misinformed about something he already knew...
You know what, fuck it. If you want to be willfully ignorant, knock yourself out.

Like the dying newspapers will actually make those freelancers employees......our Governor is a fucking idiot.

What a shock the ignorant and the uninformed continue to be spoon fed by a man that has no clue what he is doing. Accidental victories are like broken clocks. If as the "stable genius" claims we are in control of the Middle East, how did the Iranians, last month, with a few drones and cruise missiles disrupt Saudi oil production? Ummmm oh yeah that.

The POTUS is the most powerful person in the world. So yeah, what they say matters. A lot.

That is an interesting debate Harpooner- are we a nation ruled by a king- with unlimited powers? Or are we a nation that has an institutionalized separation of powers where congress, the president, and the supreme court have equal powers as the Constitution requires ( pesky little thing). While it is true that at certain times both the congress and the courts have abdicated their powers to the president, as the last year has shown the presidency does not have unlimited powers. While granted some have argued that an imperial presidency is what is best for the United States, and over the last 50 years the power of the executive has increasingly been enlarged by each successive president ( one could argue that this is a direct result of allowing the Senate to be directly elected by the public instead of as originally envisioned by I digress).
I would argue that in reality, either Premier Xi or President Putin are the most powerful people in the world. They hold essential dictatorships- have access to nuclear weapons, have complete control over their populations - while presidents including the current- must deal with the friction of democracy.
So I guess the question is what do you consider to be the basis for being the "most powerful person in the world" ?
Nonetheless America f#ck yeah!

By way of Example lets talk about how the "Most Powerful Person In The World" faired over say last 40 years
Reagan - needed Oliver North to break his oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, by running an illegal arms deal. Iran a thorn in side.
Bush 1- oversaw the collapse of the Soviet Union, the unification of Germany, the brilliant military eviction of Iraq from Kuwait; only to lose all that in an election because as a result of the Cold War ending the U.S. went into a recession.
Clinton- unable to stop the genocide in Rwanda, the break up of Yugoslavia, and undone because despite being the "most powerful person in the world" he couldn't get a blow job in the Oval Office
Bush 2- We are still in Afghanistan and Iraq. Iran funds Shiite militias and harasses U.S. efforts especially after we turn our attention to it after Iraq.
Obama- We are still in Afghanistan and Iraq- Russia begins to re-enter Middle East ala Soviet Union via Syria. Red line in sand and nothing.Iran begins to emerge.
Trump- We are still in Afghanistan and Iraq- and now Russia has fully reestablished its presence, supporting Syria and selling weapons to Turkey; Iran attacks ally we are defending.
Putin- in power since 2000; overseen the reemergence of Russia as a Soviet type power, complete control of his economy, complete control of political institutions, able to annex Crimea with only hand ringing.Ability to eliminate political enemies with impunity on foreign shores
Xi- essential a dictator for life; complete control of Chinese state; eliminates political rival through execution.
So is POTUS really all powerful?
|
|
A POTUS is the most powerful, so long as they are not compromised before their rise to power.
Its not a lifetime assignment, and there will be consequences after the reign. And if there is dirt that is dug up, that reign could be painfully short.

I dint read all of that... but Bush 1 didn’t lose because of a recession... he lost because Ross Perot split the vote.
|
|
Clinton's unofficial campaign slogan was "it's the economy stupid" ; Bush had become unpopular because he was forced to raise taxes after promising not to. Perot , always ran as an independent; but nonetheless the precursor to Trump in that he tapped into the disaffected white middle class voter. But where Trump was able to masterfully ignore his critics and exploit their anger and fear- no matter what the scandal of his past- aPerot wilted under the onslaught as a scrutiny turned to him.
Some say Bush lost really when during the final debate ( I think) he looked at his watch- under normal circumstances not a big deal- but at that time it was like an old man ready for bed.
The point though of the diatribe- is whether POTUS any POTUS is the most powerful man on the earth.
