I can't tell if that's the Purge TV show or Watchmen. Too many similarities.

The graphic novel really changed lil’ Run-Key’s life. It was unlike anything I’d read before (or since).
The movie adaptation was so bad I wanted to burn the theater down afterwards.
So, I’m pleasantly surprised that the HBO series is actually good so far! Fuck the seventh kavelry.

The Watchman is HBO... I think The Purge is USA.
It’s k-ind of an alternate reality.
We won the Vietnam War and Nixon was re-elected. There was a white supremest uprising during Reagan’s presidency. They ended up changing the constitution and Robert Redford became President in 1992 and has remained in office ever since. The 4 greatest American Presidents are Washington, Lincoln, Nixon and Redford. (Nixon is on Mt. Rushmore lol)
It’s 2019 in Tulsa, OK. In 2016 the white supremests rose up and went into the homes of the police and killed them and their families. The white supremests were put down, but Now all of the police wear masks so they cannot be identified for their safety and the safety if their families. Their weapons are locked and can only be released for use electronically from headquarters.
That’s a little of the backstory. I don’t want to give away the plot for those who haven’t watched but want to.
The white supremests are rising again.

The sound design in the cattle ranch scene was.... man don’t eat before watching this show 🤢

I'll check out Watchmen.
The Man In The High Castle was an alternate reality type of show from a few years back where Japan and Germany won WW2 and were occupying the US. Supposed to be good but there is so much content out there now it's really got to be a home run to hold me.

Just watcher episode 3 of watchmen. Jean smart just stole the show. In fargo she was floyd gerhardt. I think one of the toughest female characters in the league of ellen Ripley, or sarah connor. In watchmen she is laurie blake. Wow, i think i can watch, watchmen season 1.

Episode 3... still hasn’t hooked me. I keep hoping it will make a gripping turn... it just seems to be plodding along.

Wow.. watchmen is going to be one of those movies (cut up into 9 ep.) that i need to watch a few times. The way time is experienced in watchmen, i now know/understand the relativity of time. Thats just great writing. The way race is used, experienced, explained is more brilliant writing. The use of people wearing maskes and racism has turned on a light in my head. How i perceive race and my understanding of the dynamics of race in the world around me. I just finished watching the last episode for the 3rd time. There's an official pod cast with the executive producer, writer damon lindelof. Yeah, the guy that made Lost.

Thanks for mentioning the podcast. I have 2 1/2 episodes left. You are right... a lot of detail and a lot of nuance. Sorting it all out/absorbing it all has been challenging.

Just finished season 1.
It was a struggle to get through. Very creative, lots of little lynch pins to connect things. Too many to be entertaining to me.
The big blue wiener was impressive.
Pretty sure I won’t watch season 2
