Coinbase holding funds now
Oct 23 2019 07:05PM more by PlasticinePorter
Tags: Technical Site Stuff

I did not have this issue when I used my wallet previously but as of today they are holding all new funds for 7 days before releasing back off of Coinbase. Did not find this out until after I made a deposit. No longer an efficient means to buy FX unless you are holding BlockChain already.

Easiest and most anonymous way to buy FX points is go to Best Buy, buy a Best Buy gift card in cash, and redeem it on the site. Site takes it on the chin with the vig that’s taken but they’re apparently willing to accept that to get the money.

You can also buy a Western Union money order and mail it in. Site gets to keep the full amount but the process takes 5 days.

Perhaps I'm being unclear, but I put funds into coinbase for the sole purpose of buying FX points as I'd done before.... Coinbase did not warn me that my funds would be tied up... I don't think HX even knows this is happening yet...

Its not about safe or anonymous.... Its that I was trying to get more mail in the manner the site states that they prefer through the vendor they prefer and I have done before... and instead I have money held up in virtual escrow subject to a week of market volatility.

Plenty of other wallets out there you can ATM direct into..I kind of like this one but there are lot of them out there.

But as far as I know Coinbase is the only one you can link to bank accounts and such.

Does Exodus require all my personal info to send/receive?? I have CoinBase and had to send a photo of my ID in order to send/receive.

No but the only way to get funds into exodus is via atm or another user etc. You can not add via bank accounts.

gemini will credit my deposit for trading purposes when made...they won' release the funds for 5 business days...even if they have the actual cash for few days

i think credit cards get around it, if you made a deposit that way, but cost money vs free

i tried setting up at coinbase and could not get them to accept my picture from smartphone or ipad or emails.

few years later i am getting emails like they think i have an acct there?? hours of wasted time

i use it for poker...it's a great way to transfer money without people at home knowing what you are doing.

if a cam girl in russia needs 100 bucks...she can have it in 15min with little cost to get it there...not many other options that keep that mostly private.

Fastest way on coinbase is to buy usdc on regular coinbase which is instant, no fees will be charged, then move it to your wallet on coinbase pro and purchase ETH/BTC for 50 cent fee then transfer to here. Sounds like alot of work, but it's worth it if you do alot of transactions

I forgot to mention all of this is done via bank account on coinbase and coinbase pro. You never want yo use credit cards. Credit card companies will charge you ridiculous fee's.

transactions out are free for 10 per 30 day cycle...after that they just starting charging .001...so maybe like ~9bucks now

stay under 10 transaction out

i thought i would use a wallet like blockchain or something bypass this a little, but seems like they are very expensive on transactions. i thought best do that for poker so they would not close my acct with illegal activity or bypass bank laws

any wallets out there that have low fees? generally a few dollars is fine....9 and more gets you looking at other options.

When purchasing FXPs via crypto, it says to "make sure you send enough to cover fees" right before checking out.

How do I figure out what the fees are for sending $100 from CoinBase? I thought it was free to pay with crypto?

I just tried to transfer $100 from Coinbase and am having the same 72 hour hold issue. Maybe the Hx receive codes could be set to expire after longer than 72 hours?
I haven't seen this before. Spent an hour futzing around with the "Accelerate transfer" function without success. Looks like I'm back to gift cards after all the fu*(&g around to set up the Coinbase account only for Hx transfer it seems it's now useless. SMH....

I just realized this blog is a year old. Not sure why the same issue is now recurring but if there's any one more cyber savy (i.e. anyone) who can offer some advice I'd appreciate it.

I was shopping at Home Depot last week and I bought a gift card from them, when I got home it took me about 2 minutes to exchange it for points, same experience with Lowe’ s gifts cards. I’ll take the 2 minutes versus days when I send a money order. Just my .02 centavos

Takes me less than a minute to send from my crypto account.

Now you can buy crypto with Paypal. Next year, Visa and Mastercard will be adopting cryptocurrency payment and transactions making it even easier.

In some states you can buy real estate and pay taxes with Bitcoin. The future is here, don't get left behind
