The bottom line is that the Republican Senate is NEVER going to convict him.
That phone call was shockingly stupid but the Republicans did a smart thing. They produced a transcript of the phone call up front. There was no attempt to cover it up. There are really no facts to investigate.
It's a legal issue now and there the Republicans are on better ground because the wording in the Constitution is very vague. You could argue all day about what "High Crimes and Misdemeanors" means and get nowhere.
The "trial" in the Senate is going to be a circus. The only danger for the Republicans is if they overdo it. Instead of going after Schiff and the Bidens they should just take their victory and go home.
