The music is called "pop-folk" or "chalga", a mixture of Bulgarian and Turkish music using different time signatures (5/4 amd 7/4 being common). It is popular among the Roma (gypsy) people in Bulgaria, with lyrics either in Turkish or Bulgarian. I got into it years ago when traveling on business to Bulgaria. I have always had an interest in different music styles and back in the day used to collect CD and even cassette tapes from all over the world.
