Yes, he says some goofy stuff....but he has the balls to go in front of a hostile press on a nearly daily basis...taking whatever critical question posed. He isn't briefed on the questions, and often speaks off the cuff...
I give the man credit for doing it over and over again.
My point....we can poke fun and criticize Trump...ok. I am fine with that.
But Biden is hiding in the basement and the handful of times when he ventures out and is given softball questions, he sounds like a dufus.
The American people get to hear Trump, in all of his strengths and weaknesses.

If you think Trump is self-destructing and Biden is walking carefree through a flowery meadow... you have been sipping the CNN/MSNBC tea too much.
Yesterday, I spoke with a 30 year old African American man (kid to me. I’ve known him most of his life) I was shocked to hear his perspective.
He has a huge social media following (Facebook/YouTube/Twitter/Instagram) over a million on each. He makes his living (pretty good one) on social media. He doesn’t do politics on his feeds. He just does sports and keys primarily on one particular team.
This guy blew me away at how strong his opinions were. I never would have guessed it. He said, Me and most of the people I know are secret Trump voters. We don’t talk about it because we don’t want the arguments and strained relationships and it’s not good for business.
He said, “I don’t like Trump’s personality, but I think he is a strong leader. I think he is not afraid to make decisions and then aggressively pursue he outcome he desires. It seems like Biden is just the opposite. Where is he during the whole Coronavirus thing? Where are his answers and solutions? It’s easy to criticize but he isn’t laying out his 10 point plan on how to fix it?”
I was shocked. I thought he would give me the standard “Trump is racist, liar, dumb, etc...” answer.
He also said, “BLM is not me. I think police need to be reformed but I think the George Floyd thing was a protest of opportunity. I am not for defunding police. The only friends I have that are for it are criminals.”
I think there is an entire sub-set of American culture that is just sitting quietly until the election.

I wonder what planet or drugs some of the folks are on since some of the comments are just ridiculous. If you want to go after the deep state how about complaining how long Presidential campaigns last. There is absolutely no reason to have 6+ months campaigns. It just makes the political class rich. Trump and Biden will debate three times for a tolal of 6 hours. They clearly will be grilling each other and have to respond to tough questions from the moderators. What the fuck more do you need to make a decision? In most countries, the campaign season is less than 2 months. Why the fuck should Biden leave his basement? He has done some interviews and, actually, responded well to questions. He isn't the President so, at this juncture, he can't do anything about the fucking pandemic or the economic crash or race relations. Do you want him to do rallies in crowded arenas? Six hours of televised debate isn't enough? The "Biden in the basement" meme is nothing more than a desperate attempt by Trump to paint Biden as unfit. If Trump was leading in the polls all you be hearing is how great things are under Trump. fOf course, poll after poll clearly indicates that is not the case. (by the way, polling data clearly trumps feedback you receive from one fictional individual.
Most of Trump's interviews are with Fox and the questions they give him are softballs. Still, when Hannity asked him his plans for a second term he couldn't provide a cogent answer. And anybody who encourages people to inject bleach is a total moron. Finally, Trump starting doing the coronavirus briefings in April because he needed an outlet since rallies were not in the cards. He did not do the briefings so he could respond to tough questions from reporters. Unlike a debate format, where you can pin a candidate down, Trump responses were either demeaning answers or avoidance. The reason the briefings stopped is because White House aides were worried that Trump was making a complete fool of himself (hey, Quat does have contacts in the WH). The briefings only started up when aides realized that Trump couldn't be AWOL as the pandemic increased.
P.S. Quat does refer to quaternary ammonium compounds. They are widely used in hand sanitizers and disinfectants. Make them and sell them. Business has never been better. Sales are up 10-fold so far this year. Life is good in some respects.

Here is the reality.
62% of Americans say they are afraid to share their political beliefs. That includes 52 percent of people who identify as Democrats, 59 percent who identify as independents, and a whopping 77 percent of those who are Republicans.
So poll numbers are totally unreliable right now, especially when that many Republicans fear being 'cancelled' by the craziness of our society.
This is the antithesis of what America has always been about. Lots of closet Trump supporters out there....far more than in 2016.

When you set the bar so low for a candidate and their debate performance is mediocore, they are the perceived as the winner and get a boost. This is exactly what happened in 2000 with Bush and Gore. The consensus before the debates was that Bush was a lightweight and Gore a visionary. Well, Bush held his own during the first 2 debates and the rest is history.
I am aware of the poll you are referring to. I view it skeptically regarding the Presidential race. 2020 like 2016 will probably come down to the independent vote. In 2016, the independents broke heavily for Trump, don't think that will happen in 2020. Plus, the Ramussen poll which is heavily tilted towards Republicans has Biden leading. Third, from what I hear, the Trump campaign internal polls are dismal. But, this is just a snapshot of today, things can change certainly swing in Trump's favor come election day. I just don't think there is a substantial number of silent Trump voters.

Rasmussen was the most accurate poll in 2016 when it comes to popular vote. But the popular vote doesn't matter because the Democrats will win it anyway. Thanks to California, NY and these other overwhelmingly blue states with big populations. The battleground polls have tightened and will continue to. Trafalgar group were the only poll to predict trump winning Pennsylvania and Michigan. Those 2 polls would be the ones I trust

Your deep state theory should make a terrific fantasy novel. "No way that Biden can win the election". I agree with that statement. If Trump wins the election he will boast how popular he really is. If he loses, he will say the election is a fraud and that the Democrats connived in so many horrible ways to steal the election. So, he will stay in power until he cleans out the fraud and, henceforth, the country can have a fair election. Heads or tails he wins.

I think the "shy Trump voter" theory has been mostly disproven. If you look at the 2016 results, the vote counts were all within the margin of error of the reputable polls. (Source: fivethirtyeight.com)
Trump overperformed slightly due to what may have been less-than-perfect sampling methodologies. The pollsters have since tweaked their sampling, so there is reasonably good evidence to believe that 2020 polling will be a little bit more accurate.
And just because you can find a few black Trump supporters doesn't mean that there is a significant number of voters lying about their support to pollsters.

Two predictions:
1. Professor who predicted every election correctly since 1984 says Biden will beat Trump.
2. I predict Joe Biden will pick Susan Rice as VP. In terms of fit, it's the best one. Republicans will overreach and bring up Benghazi and the Russia scandal, which will take away from what non-partisans want to really talk about: fixing the economy and getting rid of the virus.
Experts like Nate Cohn of the NY Times and Harry Enten of fivethirtyeight/CNN says that's it's a myth that we are undercounting the "silent" Trump voter:
"Perhaps not wanting to acknowledge Biden's edge, some Republicans, including in President Donald Trump's own circle, claim that the polls are oversampling Democrats and undersampling Republicans. Often, they point to the 2016 exit polls.
An in-depth look at the current high-quality national telephone polls reveals it's quite unlikely the polls are inaccurate because of an undersampling of Republicans. The current polls have the same relative partisan makeup as earlier this year when the race was tighter and as the accurate final national 2016 polls.
Biden is leading not because the polls are undersampling Republicans, but because he simply has more support than Trump does nationally."

I think Rice would be a good pick to help Biden with foreign policy matters.
But I would be concerned that she is not polished as a politician and she might step onto some landmines just before the election.
I think you're right that very few (undecided) voters care about Benghazi any more. The only voters that care have already decided to vote for Trump.

I think Biden will chose Rice largely because he already has.a relationship with her and would like a partnership like he had with Obama. Rice has experience dealing with a pandemic (Ebola), and we have a lot of work to do foreign-policy wise to reestablish good terms with our democratic allies and to come up with good long-term strategies on how to deal with China and Russia.

Clearly, our relationship with China has changed with this pandemic, and I have more hope that a Biden/Rice team than a Trump/Pompeo team would install a successful long term "containment" strategy (like Truman/Kennan did after WW2), but unique to China.
