Next door to you Mila. LOL

Nothing new. Migration has been going on for years. It’s the people coming back that surprise me.
|
|
people are not coming back @sherkahn

Are you a realtor, vss4? Or just opening your mouth without facts?
Now given , the current economic conditions are forcing low income people to seek life elsewhere. Life is not good for everyone in California.
However, those with means are coming back.
Those college age individuals that we’re going away for school are now buying and working remotely where they can. The high desert/inland empire is showing an explosion of interested buyers. And my clients are returning to California because their states recovery programs are not offering enough resources to help them plan for 5+ years recovery. It’s not because life is good here, but because it’s worse elsewhere.

I been hearing for years about people leaving Sunny Cali for some rusty ass state, but I realize its all bullshit when I see they added an extra lane to the 405 on the way to the valley LOL...if you gona leave just leave and don't come back..
|
|
that's all the California has left to offer anymore.. sun and ocean. That's it.. Other than that this state is pretty much the bottom of the barrel.. in any category.
|
|
More oxygen for me.

Colorado and Idaho could have been good options.. unfortunately Democrats moving there are ruining things there too.... really sad.

I moved from the bay area California to Las Vegas two years ago. I absolutely dislike it very much. One of the biggest positives about living in Las Vegas is the fraction of the cost of living and I’m pretty sure that’s the biggest reason why people move out of California. I am considering moving back to the Bay Area in the near future.

Good, please leave, get the fuck out of here! The majority of you motherfuckers aren't from around here and neither are your ancestors.

Someone wants me to invest in Jackson Hole WY.
If Prop 13 fails, maybe.

A lot of people who moved to California during the 'boom' years are moving out. I see a bunch of Cali license plates in Austin, San Antonio, Houston and Dallas, Boise Idaho, Arizona and New Mexico.
I'm in Austin for about 4-7 months a year now and even bought a house there, kept the Cali house though, but California's home and always will be.
Did give up my California residence for Texas though and moved my company there, just because Texas doesn't have a state income tax and corporate taxes are wwwaaayyy lower. The minute I did that my company taxes dropped over 20% and my personal taxes dropped over 30%!!! But the weather completely SUCKS and people CAN'T FUCKING drive there!
The only place I'd live other than southern/central Cali would be northern Cali - Mendocino County to be exact.

u must drive really slow @Atticus Finch , in Texas its all about speed. if your doing 70 your a slow mofo get off the road.
And yes ppl are leaving cali in droves and are not coming back. If there is any influx it probably will be ppl who left cali for the east coast
|
|
illinois and pennsylvania I could see them migrating to cali but colorado????? New York and New Jersey I could see also
|
|
Speed? Really? When did you live there last? Cause I'm there right now and I can tell you it ain't about speed.
It's about people going 65 in the #1 lane and refusing to move to the #2 or #3 lane. People NOT knowing what each lane is for and NOT knowing that the on ramps are for getting up to speed BEFORE getting on the freeway proper. NOT using their rear view mirrors or turning their heads to look before changing lanes, or backing out of a parking spot. Or cutting you off because they're going to miss their off ramp and don't have the sense just to go to the next one then double back.
Like I said they don't know how to fucking drive.

@ HX, the last bastion of white privilege
Marie Antoinette got nothing on you ruthless Progs (rhymes with Trogs, short for Troglodytes)
You think the working poor, the recently arrived immigrant family (legal or otherwise) can afford your your bountiful largesse?
Your message is "stay and starve, or GTFOH"
The very people you champion every day
Are forced to live in cramped overcrowded conditions (mostly in LA) passing Covid around like candy
The over-regulation of housing, businesses, occupational licensing, life in general plus overtaxation to support the unions at CTA, prison guards, SEIU, etc has left Cali as THE most expensive state to live in. Then the San Diego cunt gives us AB-5???
And, you whiteys are all "aaahh, fuck those poor schlubs"
There IS no bigger hypocrite than a Prog
You worthless fucks been running this state for 20 years, maybe 30?
How come it's getting worse every day instead of being the "workers paradise"?
Oh yeah, its all Orange mans fault.

Considering a move to Scottsdale, AZ.
I know, it's hot for 3 months. Really hot. But, the other 9 months the average temperature is 74 degrees. There's classy people there with money, the crap people in Scottsdale are as good as teh nice people in SoCal. There's lots to do, and the restaurants blow SoCal off the map!
This is a 10-15 year plan until retirement. After Scottsdale, the final retirement destination will be north, to Sedona. I beautiful place to walk out into your backyard, look at the red rocks and the valley, and ponder all the gorgeous women you banged in your lifetime...followed up by an order of Flautas de Pato over at the Elote Cafe, the best Mexican restaurant west of the Rockies and south of Canada.

Born and raised her. Moved away for 8 years. I'm not leaving again.

And when the state ups the tax rate on the wealthy.....then we will see an exodus of lots of the high tax paying people and the tax base will be all fucked up...so then the idiots in Sacto will have to drive that high tax rate down to all of us, since that 0.5% of the wealthy pay 40% of our state income tax....so push them out and we have a huge hole to fill.
|
|
If everyone is leaving, how is it that we keep growing?
|
|
smurf....we have lots of illegal immigration from the south and births help push the numbers....but those "new" people don't pay taxes for at least 15-18 years. So for every adult taxpayer lost, that is loss of money for the state. And that new potential taxpayer won't be on line for over a decade.
More people moving out than moving in and we are losing the higher income people who pay more taxes. Also, it doesn't take many millionaires or billionaires to move out to kick the tax base in the balls.
Ask New York......Cuomo is now begging the wealthy to come back.....LOL
|
|
You can 'grow' total population, but if you are trading a middle aged taxpayer for an new 'offspring'....you just lost 18 years of revenue.......
|
|
All true, but the argument was people couldn't "afford" to live in the state so they were moving out (post by Sherkahn and MA337). Rich people can afford living in the state and are probably willing to pay for location, location, location. Mostly people leave Cali when the retire, if they will be living on a fixed income going forward and want to use the equity in there house to supplement their retirement income. They can buy a new house in a cheaper location and pocket the rest of the money (see jimeedee post).
|
|
No, the rich in New York are actually departing the state......going to establish residence in one of their other 'homes'.
Same thing will happen here in CA. Most super rich people have homes elsewhere....all they have to do is live their more than half the year and establish residence in that other state. They can have the best of both worlds....live in CA for 182 days and someplace else for 183. Have to be careful to make sure they actually reside in the other location, since phone records and credit card statements can be damning as to where you were.....
I have 3 clients who are NOT at retirement age....just packed up their businesses and moved. And one of them took almost 50% of their employees with them.......

If I had a house with 7 bathrooms, I'd take a dump in a different one every day!
|
|
Jazz, I am helping lower class people sell their homes and move out of state.(referrals to Arizona and Georgia) But I am seeing people with $$$$ move back.
Example: an old buddy who came here when he wanted to be a musician now runs a successful trucking/shipping business. He is coming back to Cali as he is looking for a safe place to raise kids and where his investment in real estate will retain value after the homes decrease in value. And he is helping upper management make the move, as remote work has helped streamline the process.

I wanna have a bathroom called Wednesday.

"Despite the population decline, according to the California Legislative Analyst's Office, the state is adding people at the higher income level, with most of them moving to the San Francisco Bay Area."
Do you even read what you post, jazz?

That was literally taken out of one of the articles you posted. It negates basically everything you've said.

I need to go on my lap tap to read this
Great feedback. Thanks.

Like the rest of Sacramento, pretty sure the CLAO is filled with a bunch of liars.
SFO has serious problems and the tech people I know who've lived in the Bay area for years are leaving for the burbs to work remotely and not step in human excrement every day.
I love that city but haven't been back in several years. I was getting panhandled on Market every 20 yards. That was when I saw Willie Brown working over his great great grand-daughter at the bar, lol.

20 leave and 2000 move in to CA

Someone mentioned housing in Indiana. I moved out this way about 8 or so years ago and while I can tell you that its difficult for so many reasons, the median price per square foot is 99 dollars.
Enough said.

Interesting that HUD defined “Low Income Limits” in San Francisco as $82,200 for an individual and $117,400 for a family of four in 2018, based on 80% of the area's median income.
Now consider - however, the federal poverty guidelines in 2018 were only $12,140 for an individual and $25,100 for a family of four.
It's why I also have a place in Bozeman, MT.
