Yellow Cab will be laughing all the way to the bank!

Again Cali to cut off its nose to spite its face. Keep up the good work Suckramento.
|
|
Fuck Uber, horrible company with a toxic corporate culture.
|
|
So what, don't use them
Other people don't give a shit
Let the market work
You're free NOT to ride or work for Uber or Lyft or whatever
Oh and fuck Lorena Gonzalez
POS union cunt, simple as that
|

The legislature has made their move prior to November, putting a lot of people in a precarious position. Understand that it's the DRIVERS that want to remain independent. The legislature will lead you to believe that Uber and Lyft are out to screw their drivers. They (the legislature) should've waited for Election Day and let the people vote; instead they pull this judicial stunt to trip up things. Regardless, come Election Day, vote "YES" on Prop 22. It's what the drivers want!
|
|
The fucking cabbies are shit drivers
I'll take Uber/Lyft any day
And have taken them a lot
The marketplace has enough room for both
And, let the consumer choose
Not the cunts in Sacramento

Dang! So are strip clubs going to leave Cali too?
|

"Again Cali to cut off its nose to spite its face. Keep up the good work Suckramento."
No shit... well said
What in mother fuck motivated this legislation?
What are these Dumbocrats going to completely fuck up next?
|
|
Lorena Gonzalez is ex union organizer and all around worthless twat
Fuck you San Diego for spawning this POS
|
|
California elected Nuisance. He is a control freak and he does what he wants when he wants.
He will hold the citizens of California hostage until he moves on to president
|
|
Dumb move by the AG. Uber and Lyft ridership is down 80-85% so no big deal for them shutting down until the election. The only folks that will be hurt are current drivers and users. It seems like the state move will help the supporters of the Proposition.

No Prez for nuisance....Kamila will beat him to it.

Nice work CA. One more step toward third world status.
Union pukes win again.
Everybody else loses.
|
|
I spoke to an Uber and Lyft driver who said he initially made a lot when the companies started out but then afterwards said he would sometimes only break even, or make minimal profit. He was supportive of the reclassification.

Me: Did you hear that one of our assemblywomen said 'fuck you' to Elon Musk.
My wife: That was our assemblywomen, that fucking cunt Lorena Gonzalez.
Elon Musk: Fuck off Cali.
BTW her next project is outlawing less than lethal projectile use by the police because they leave nasty boo boos on protesters.
God what an enormous POS.
|
|
Well, good way to protect those drivers right into joblessness. Great going!!!
|
|
Unions rule. Uber like so many other tech companies are just old models of doing business but without adhering to labor laws. Talk to anyone who drives Uber about how they honestly feel about the company - you will think twice about using it if you are not a POS
|
|
fuck Elon Musk he is a fraud

These two communist companies shot themselves in the foot so they deserve what they get. They have always played as they are above the law, bully everyone and then cry like babe's in the court room. Can't wait until that other settlement check comes in. And I don't feel bad putting them both down on certify for benefits. Problem is, they gave me the freedom to travel around here.
At least uber since last Jan when AB5 took affect , gave tools that benefited the drivers like they should have from the beginning as an IC.
If they just kept rates at 2.00 a mile and 20cents a minute. this never would have come to this.
It was once reported that Uber/Lyft were the second most hated companies to work for.
They be open for buzz again, it just might not until the 1st.
And lately some drivers are getting deactivated for make up bs reasons. Could be because of this, got a thin the Herd ya know.

And Voting Yes on Prop 22 is what Uber and Lyft want. So choose wisely.
|

Hi I'm new. Fuck Uber Eats.
|

GOOD- fuckin' scabs...Here's a thought- if you want union benefits- join the fucking union...Don't try to undercut them, and then bitch about it when the boss man sticks it up your ass without lube. We have a taxi system. But, some genius (literally) talks people into wearing out their own cars, leasing cars that will be worth shit when they are turned in due to the amount of miles, and paying next to nothing for the driver's time. If you remember- the whole premise behind this "ride sharing" was that say you had a 2 hour commute to your job, you could pick people up along the way and drop them off, really not going out of your way, and make a few extra bucks. It was never intended to be a stand-alone job (i.e. taxi driver).

Uber and Lyft are taking advantage of people really While I know the service is useful think about it.
1. there's no payroll
2. they dont have to pay for the vehicle
3. they don't have to pay for insurance
for them it's a win win. For the average joe they're on the hook for everything. I could care less because I don't use the service.
But I think the Cali is being stupid to cut them off. I think the only reason why they're doing it because they can't get their grubby hands on tax dollars.

Yes not a fan of Uber or Lyft, Cabs were legit unemployment, taxes, special licence's. Back in the day they were called "jitny's" (Uber) However it about keeping people at home NOT workers

Another reason to vote all incumbents out in November and recall Governor Gruesome!!

Like Goddess.Euphoria, I've taken Uber/Lyft many times, here in California, Chicago, Seattle, even Mexico.
All of the drivers were cool and friendly. They seemed to like the gig everytime I asked.
I also noticed a few occasions where people in wheelchairs would use Uber/Lyft. The driver was extremely helpful. Maybe they could have driven their own cars though?
If Uber/Lyft drivers enjoy working on their own schedule, they should stay independent. Yes they pay more in taxes, which they should be saving/paying every quarter, but they also write off their miles and other expenses.
|
|
All of you anti Uber and Lyft people.....the drivers DON"T have to sign up. Totally their choice. Just like it is your choice to take the job at YOUR employer.
They know going it what the terms of the agreement are. Maybe they didn't do their homework to chart out actual earnings. But they can also quit any time they want also.
I feel the same about college loans....no one put a gun to their heads to sign the loan agreement. The terms are fully disclosed and nothing is hidden. If you don't want the debt, don't take the money.
80% of these drivers work less than 20 hours per week. These are part time people generating a little extra income. Under the CA requirements, they all will go away, since they will not be able to devote 40 hours a week on a fixed work day.
Watch the DUI citations and drunk driving fatalities soar......fewer options for consumers to secure a safe ride.

This is all off the back of the Ca Supreme Court decision in the Dynex trucking lawsuit over whether their drivers could be considered Indpendant contractors or employees.
In that case, because the trucking company were dicks, they were paying their contractors minimum wages, not given them breaks by making them drive long shifts and not paying them overtime if they worked more than 40 hours in a week
The supreme court said they were to be considered employees.
And this shit show has steated ever since. Hairdressers. strippers, anyone in CA that used to be an IC - especailly those in media and entertainemnt where a lot are indepentant contractors to specific gigs - are being forced into being employees and its killing their margins.
Many used to be able to pay less tax and write off more as a contractor - but now as employees those options are gone. And many of the new employees dont want to be classed that way. I get there are shithead employers out there that take advatange and those workers shoudl be protected - but to force them all to be employees is crap. Make it the employees choice and stop every companies fear that if they have independant contractors they'll get sued.
It really sucks - and thus Uber and Lyft are facing the same issue. They dont want to have their IC as employees - and some of the drivers dont either.
But the CA Supreme court says they do.
Thats where the issue comes from.
and to make it a better HX post.... nice titties

That’s what happens when you vote Democrat.

Plus 1 arnie... Uber/Lyft can not pass the part B of the ABC test .
Watch the DUI citations and drunk driving fatalities soar. +1
For the record here. I am retired and can do with out being a driver. It's been fun for the most part. and helps should an appointment not follow through being able to go online from right where I am at. Just don't call me after when I'm on a trip to LAX.
On a good month I could clear around 800 a month after expenses. Hardly enough to live on. Yet any Gig was not ever meant to be lived upon.
However there are 1% of drivers and it is only 1% that can gross over a 1,000 a week, only 1%.
Only 4% of new drivers last more than a year.

If he knows this information, I might expect ANY Uber/Lyft driver can find that same information. We all have the ability to conduct a vetting of a future employer. If you do not do so, shame on you.
If you don't like the employer...don't take the gig. Let the market decide. If no one would drive for Uber, they would have to change their pay structure. But people are constantly signing up.

Lyft and Uber didn’t say fuck you California… The fucking idiot governor is fucking them over once again! Typical fucking Democrat that has no clue how to run a fucking business!
|
|
BigOnes...that is the problem for a majority of our politicians....they have never run a business, had to balance a budget, look at the big picture.....they are career people sucking on the tit of America.

jazz51 ~ Been a driver since Jan 15. If I were to add it all up, probably over 11,000 completed trips.
Uberpeople.net has been very helpful once you get past all the BS, kind of like here lol.... I don't drive Bar hrs. and she is still vomit free. Although came close a couple of times.

The issue with cabs is that they are much more expensive than lyft for long distances. I just downloaded the Curb app. I think it's better than nothing!
|
|
AF....my point is that this law was generated because a handful of Uber/Lyft drivers were bitching about the system and brought attention to the gig. No one made them drive. If they wanted to try to unionize, that would have been their prerogative. But they, like too many other people in our society, went to get the government involved.
So we got a bullshit law now that affects independent contractors al over the state.

Another reason why Arizona here I come!
There's plenty of fancy rich people in Scottsdale, plenty of work for me in Metropolitan Phoenix, and less taxes and expenses. I can buy a 5,000 sq. ft. house on an acre in Mesa with a pool, 3 car garage, plus an RV garage for $700K. Show me that in SoCal. And the property taxes and state income taxes are half, gas 50 cents cheaper!
Best of all: Plenty of nice lakes for boating and skiing!
