My AC bill was $27 last month which was a bit high and that’s with the AC running pretty continually at 72 degrees in the IE.

1. Not true. There is no “traditional payroll.” Drivers are still paid. (How about no payroll taxes). That also doesn’t count their corporate personnel... there is payroll and payroll taxes.
2. True. The vehicle is the responsibility of the contractor.
3. Not true. Although the contractor must have their own insurance. The company has to have a HUGE commercial policy as well. Haven’t you seen the TV commercials ... “have you been in an accident involving UBER or Lyft? Call the law offices of......”
Remember, both of those companies have been teetering on the edge of insolvency for years. They have been trying to hang on long enough to take advantage of driverless cars. They believe that is the shift that will make them profitable.

You DON'T have to drive for Uber or Lyft.
If you decide to do so, then STFU and drive.
If you don't like it, do something else.

Once again, fuck Uber, their corporate culture is toxic. You guys should look up the shit the original CEO and his board pulled. He has been tossed out for a while now, but Uber is still a shit company praying on the ignorant.
The last time I had to use them was a few years back, some lady in a brand new SUV had over 100,000 miles and she said she only had it for a couple months.
This is not even touching on the privacy violations they pulled with their app. They got in trouble with Apple over some shenanigans a few times.

Uber was only using human drivers until they could get their automated cars figured out then it was going to be fuck the drivers, we got robot cars now.
Fact about robot cars, we will never see them in mass in our lifetime, but I digress.
The only people that made any serious cash from Uber was the people that had the correct stock shares.

Hey GBD - could not agree with you more. Reminds me of how the government eviscerated one of our great industries - tobacco. There was no reason for bureaucrats to sue tobacco companies, overregulate or tax the shit out of tobacco products. Damn, the tobacco companies didn't force anyone to smoke. And, if you weren't illiterate, the label clearly said tobacco is harmful. And, the argument that the problem is nicotine is addictive is specious. The issue is that people who smoke have additive personalities, not that nicotine is addictive. If they weren't smoking they would be alcoholics, drug addicts, or freaking sex addicts that join sites like HX. And, then the most despicable government overreach in U.S. history: these faceless bureaucrats scared the shit out of nonsmokers by releasing reports that secondhand smoke would give them lung cancer. It was all based on phony date. So, we were forced to smoke outdoors, in small spaces, like we were criminals. The beast banned smoking in offices, public spaces, bars, airplanes you name it. Hell, people smoked in all those locations for generations and nobody ever complained. My rights as a smoker were completely obliterated. Fuck the government.

Are you paying taxes? You are paying for the unemployment benefits that drivers shouldn't have. (Somewhere in the wall of text above.) They are not employed and Uber didn't contribute. If they get a cheap ACA plan you are paying too. Yes on prop 22 allows Uber to continue robbing you. And they aren't leaving CA. Lyft didn't guarantee that and their stock falls 9%.
