Warren will not leave the Senate if the Senate is 50/50 post 11/3 since MA has a Republican governor. Even if the Senate is 51/49 Dems, she probably won't leave since someone like Joe Manchin could switch parties.

Really Long-Shot: Ben Bernacke. if the economy goes as far south as I think it will, crises management will be the order of the day. Garcetti may find it more advantageous for his career to run for the open Senate seat in 2022 rather than wait until 2024. So, my prediction is that Garcetti wiil continue to serve as Mayor and run for the Senate in 2022.

Sly....there is a difference between absentee voting and total mail in voting.
In absentee voting, the voter must submit a request for a mail in ballot. They designate the address where they are living, thus the ballot goes to a valid voter who has requested the ballot.
What the Dems are pushing is wholesale mailing of ballots to who knows where....they will be using the voter roles and whatever addresses people used when they FIRST registered to vote if no address change has ever been processed. It will cost millions to send out all of those ballots and who the hell knows where they will go.
Boxes and boxes of ballots will be in post offices, mail carrier vehicles both outgoing and incoming.
There is NO guarantee the ballots won't go to the actual voter and thus ability for voting fraud.
Anyone who can't see the pitfalls of sending 150 million ballots all over the county must be blind or stupid or both.

First, the right wing lunatics accuse the Dems of having an extreme agenda or platform then they accuse them of not having an agenda or platform. No coherence to that, just plain rhetoric.
According to almost every poll, Trump disapproval ratings are much higher than his approval ratings. So, it makes perfect political sense to focus on the orange man, assuming you want to win. George H.W. Bush used the same approach to destroy Dukakis (remember Willie Horton) and his son used the same tactic (Swift Boats) against Kerry.
Here's an agenda that the Biden administration might put forth that even the Trumpites can understand:
- Fix the health-care system since the Republicans obviously had no workable plan to replace Obama
- Try to fix Social Security since the fund will only be able to pay out about 75% of benefits beginning in 2033.
- Undertake a huge infrastructure plan to fix our failing roads, bridges, etc.
-Repair alliances with our allies.
-Take the lead on trade deals to isolate China (remember all the great trade deals that Trump promised?) What the fuck happened?
-Return to some degree of normalcy, away from the Trump chaos.
-Propose some market based solutions to address Climate Change.

Each state has their own election laws so the implication there will be universal automatically mailing of ballots to every registered voter is simply incorrect. From what I have read, about 35 states have changed their absentee voting policies, in response to the pandemic, to allow all voters to APPLY for an absentee ballot. There will be check on those requesting absentee ballots to ensure they are properly registered. Other states will automatically send ballots to all registered voters in the states. The ironic thing is that Trump's false claims about mail-in voting appears to have backfired since rural voters are now scared about mail-in voting.

Yes, every state can set their own regulations. Washington has done mail in voting, but their Registrar of Voting said it has taken 10 years for them to get it right.....and now states are trying to throw spaghetti against the wall and hope it sticks. The states do not have the resources to do those ballot checks you spoke about. Oregon does mail in ballots, but they actually verify EVERY signature on the mail in ballot with the original signature upon voter registration. They have a small population, so it can be done....but not with a state like California.

Don't know where you came up with 50 trillion. The only time I saw the number used was when Sanders claimed that national health spending will be 50 trillion over the next ten years while "Medicare for All" would run around 30 trillion over the same time period. FWIW, Biden criticized the costs of the Sanders plan. Anyway, Biden will have to deal with the 7 trillion budget deficit left by Trump. Largest deficit in the history of the U.S. by far. But, of course, you don't give a fuck since you got your measly tax cut.

But by the time the Green New Deal, Medicare for All, doing away with all fossil fuel energy, allowing more manufacturing jobs to depart and decreased tax revenue....it will cost us probably close to that number. I heard costs of upwards of 90 trillion for the Green New Deal, so my 50 trillion is probably a conservative estimate.

@jazz51 - As you well know, the Presidential election comes down to a half-dozen battleground states. Trump isn't going to make an effort to win CA, NY, etc nor will Biden try to win in MO, KS, ID, etc. So, it doesn't really matter whether Biden wins by 3 million or 4.5 million votes in CA since it will not affect the outcome of the election. There appears to be six battleground states: AZ, FL, WI, MI, NC, PA. In 2016, 75% of the votes in AZ were by mail so it should not be a problem. Trump gave a clean bill of health for FL since Desantis assured him there were no issues. In the April WI primary, about 74% of the votes were mail-in so they might have their act together. The remaining states have low levels of mail-in voting in the past. However, my sense is that both parties will be closely monitoring the process since so much is at stake. Of course, there are also a number of contested senate seats. We will see.

What I am saying is that the guy who promised to balance the budget and completely pay-off the deficit by 2025 has a legacy of the greatest deficit in a single Presidential term in U.S. history. You can caveat all you want but those of the facts, my friends. If you want all the credit when things go well you have to accept the negatives when stuff goes bad Nobody knows if the Trump Pandemic would have played out differently under a Democratic administration but the Trump administration fucked this up way before March.

Quat...it isn't just about the Presidential vote..we elect congressional representatives, Governors, multiple ballot measures.....and local elections are often won by a handful of votes....so a handful of stolen or misplaced ballots could decide the outcome.

Social Security isn't going bankrupt. As someone who has collected SS for 50 years you must know that it is a pay-as-go-system. Is it sustainable? When the money runs out of the SS Trust Funds in 2035?, recipients will receive about 75% of what was promised. Of course, this can be fixed by: 1) raising the retirement age, 2) reducing benefits for people with sizeable assets ("means test?) or 3) raising the payroll tax. Politically challenging but doable. Medicare is another entitlement program that isn't going bankrupt but is on the path to being unsustainable. Also fixable but politically challenging. As long as we have the nuts on the left and right it won't get fixed.
