I have Frontier and it has been a network issue on they’re end. I heard AT&T is more or less the same. Don’t know much about Spectrum.
For wired internet you really only have two choices in a given area: the phone company (frontier in your case) or the cable company (Spectrum). Unfortunately I have the same two options, but I think Spectrum is better the Frontier which is in bankruptcy.
frontier, formally rochester telephone, paid too much for verizon's ( GTE) land line network and its customers. kind of like when LDDS paid too much for MCI back in the early 2000's. put them in BK and in criminal court for cooking the books, hence Sarbaines / oxley, i know i spelled it wrong.
there 3 other choices for interweb:
1. hughes net, uses satellite works pretty well, not sure on price
2. buy a hotspot from your wireless carrier, but if you're a gamer or stream tv and movies, may be pricy
3 find a local interweb co that resells the major carrier or uses their own connections via cable, adsl or sdsl. there aren't of these guys around as there used to be, but if you do a search, you can find a few.
good luck.

Frontier seems to be nothing but problems everywhere. I have Spectrum. When I first signed up it was $49.99 per month for a year, then it went to $59.99 for unlimited. Have been very happy with them. Some internet providers have different prices for different amounts of data. I would stay away from plans like that.

If you have to have connectivity, tether to your phone, or use a cellular router.
Pick a major carrier. Verizon is best, just expensive.
I'm grandfathered (GILF) to a $30/month unlimited data plan.
Cell data can be expensive, but so can missing appointments.
For regular use at home, I have Cox, and it is OK, but throttles at times of the day.

If you are a gamer than you do not want Hughes.net since the signal is not direct but from the satellite, otherwise it is fine. I do not know what they charge since my youngest is a gamer and the lag would not be acceptable.
You could also wait for Musk to come out with his new system.
Waiting on Starlink (Musk), unfortunately the early years will favor the boonies since there will not be enough bandwidth for heavy city usage.
I think they all suck darling.. We have Cox and they raised the prices so much that I went "internet only" and now stream my TV...
Screw the cable companies if you ask me...
Cheers

Frontier has been pretty solid for me, but I don't use their equipment.
used to have ATT, same old story, kept raising their prices. At the end I was out like 100 a month for 70 mbps
Switched to spectrum - it's 50 a month (for a year) for a bit over 200mbps, my house didn't have a cable drop (ok, so I pulled the old cable out), so they had to run new RJ60/U cable and cut through concrete to drop where I wanted them to.
I like, it's fast, less expensive, but it about 1 to 2 times a month it goes out for a bit. I don't like that.

Darn maybe I will look back into Spectrum. They still send me monthly advertisements and came to my place twice wanting to sell tv/internet after I cancelled. The price though after the sign on special increased. Thanks for the input and help.
I use Spectrum and don’t have any issues and it’s fast!
I have Spectrum because AT&T never gave me the internet speed I was paying for. My so, son and his fiancé all used the internet for work. Never had a problem with latency.
spectrum is the old Charter Communications. They sell your info with out asking before they install any services, its actually a prerequisite in their provisioning checklist prior to install. Would not do business with Charter if they were the very last interweb company on earth and my life depended on it!
It all depends on where you live. You will have pretty much 2 choices, AT&T and Spectrum or Frontier and Spectrum. Unless you live is South OC, instead of Spectrum, it would be Cox.
I would try Spectrum if Frontier has been unreliable to for you. Their basic Internet will cost $49.99 per month for the first year and after that, it goes up to $69.99 per month. Not sure if that pricing is current.
AT&T would be the slowest and worst one to get unless you can get Fiber Optics service in your area.
The new equipment is it from Frontier?
you have to see who services your area
Spectrum is one of the leading companies next to verizon
Verizon fios can be expensive
I have Spectrum 100mps plenty of speed for me and its $54 including tax
if you are only using the internet for a little bit of things maybe a portable internet device from a cell phone carrier might do well.
I have spectrum its messed up on me like 5 times a year where I have to call and ask WTH!~ lol
but they have really good support lines etc
just if they come out to install make sure u get everything u want on that day because to come back u pay not them, cause they do free install on initial day.
for example when i cancelled my tv internet service because i dont use it and the spectrum guy didnt tell me it doesnt work on LG tv the Spectrum APP and i signed up and neverTRIED to hook up my TV anyways and just logged in via browser on my laptop... i didnt know for months it didnt work on my 55 inch LG TV till I tried months later after paying. so I called and they said LG wont accept their app
doesnt matter i get free LG TV channels pretty cool.
so.......................
anyways
ya asked the cable company if the internet tv works on your tv brand if u choose to get the internet tv
these days netflix and prime r most of the way to go.

I have Spectrum also and it does go out once in a while but it's still good. They offered me a bundle deal with basic cable for $105 a month.
In Austin I have google fibre and I LOVE it! $69.00 for 200 bps fast and reliable - it's never gone out that I know of. Although I did get a couple of emails saying they were crediting me back some $$$ for several outages that happened at 3 or 4 in the morning.
In California I've got verizon which is pricey but reliable.

Cox GigaJizz here, normally $99/mth. for up to 940Mbps but got a 12 month trial period for cheaper.
They all suck, we need more competition.
What does the Klingon Empire use?
Frontier routers sucks harder than any bj I've ever gotten. Their shit used to cut out on me once a day. I had them run a network cable from their ONT(instead of coax), so I could plug into my own router/mesh, never had any problems with drops since.
If you are with Spectrum and paying for their starting Internet package and only downloading at 100Mbps, you need to call them and have them upgrade to the 200Mbps speeds. You are paying the same amount but they won’t upgrade you to the next tier unless you call them. Their way of keeping some customers with less bandwidth so they don’t bottleneck their network.
stay the fuck away from frontier
space X is going to be bringing starlink soon
have spectrum now...doing ok....not what they promised, but fine
had verizon for 9yrs...they sold out to frontier and it all went to shit in less than a month
ATT gigapower (i believe that's what it's called)! gig up and down! For the most part my only issues have been MY OWN router dropping, not ATT's. But alas it isnt as widely available as your local cable provider. it's funny that my internet speeds are faster than a lot of companies'/corporations' internet service.
lol survey says
CABLE COMPANIES SUCK AS INTERNET PROVIDERS
Fuck all of them
Tried to go with spectrum but nothing but problems, took 2 weeks to get an appointment to run the cable to my place, guy comes out says you need a cable installed first before I can hook it up, thought that’s what you were doing?
Bought cell phone service at the same time to get the bundle discount, spectrum charged me for 2 phones and service, canceled and went with frontier they were here in a week and have had no issues with them since may 2020.
I’m still waiting for spectrum to refund the $927.56 to the credit card since may, they blame it on COVID-19
they all suck, i have spectrum/(time warner) now and for 400 mps service it costs me $90 mo and every day it goes off
had att before with 1000 mps service for $80 mo and it did the same thing
when I had verizon/frontier it went down more often than the others
they all suck
Spectrum hands down!
FIOS, which is now Frontier. Never had an outage in 8 years. There wireless router sucks.
I have had Spectrum business for the last couple of years and it has been good. i don't know about the residential.
They are all all the same. All of them go out and on lower there speed. have not seen much differance.
At&t fiber opt.
Cox communications
still have spectrum...probably need to look at the billing and see wtf we are paying
it tends to go out a few times a day for less than 5min....few times it might be 30min.
the 5min thing is bad when in a poker hand with money on the line
I’m looking for the best provider ?
Internet services at least in Los Angeles are bad its like democrat's and republicans both are bad none of them is with out problems its a monopoly since they know its not that much competition they do what ever that is to there benefits
Did you know if certain area is covered by spectrum no other company is available for providing services so your stuck with spectrum! Its all a good contract between them, go figure!
So I say none of them are reliable! Ive tried!
Spectrum isn't cheap but it is more reliable than anything else I have tried - DSL, dish, etc.
Their speed and reliability are WAY better than back in the old days. They are pretty good now.
As usual, you get what you pay for, IMHO.
Spectrum was Time Warner. TM took over Adelphia. Been with them for about 20 years.
Reasonable service, but they jack-up the rates every year so. I’m paying $276, for internet, HD TV (premium) and a cable land line phone. Hell, I can lease a car for that amount.
think we are still getting bunged for 169 dollars for 300meg download speed...think we only average 80
need to look at the bill this week and make some changes
88 dollars for TV connection we don't use...wtf did they force us to get the TV with the internet for?
48 for phone/voicemail
50 for internet 300speed
so will need phone and internet
saw att deal...seems like we could save 60-70bucks a month easy for same 300 speed
I had ATT then switched to Spectrum when I wasn't getting the speed/price that made it worth it... then switched back to ATT after the number of times Spectrum just dropped out (usually 5-6 times a day... it was so damn annoying).
ATT has lowered the price of internet for the speed from then, but still higher than it should be for the speeds you get, but I haven't had a drop out since I made the switch at least.
ATT not avail for my home
spectrum working on my bill now...will save 100bucks a month this year...80 next year...going from 300mbps to 200mbps....don't think it will be a big deal
shit adds up...everyone should probably look at shit like this every year or so
Don't you just love monopolies?
Don't like your provider? Too bad! Most areas only have 1 or 2 choices.
The incumbents like to block any attempts at municipal fiber or 3rd party deployments because money.
Make your own ISP you say? Good luck with that, Google threw billions at the problem and only managed to roll out Google fiber to a small % of the country before they gave up.
There are 3rd world countries that are beating the US at internet deployment. But you know, shareholder value is the most important thing in the universe!
dropped Frontier and now at Spectrum. Will see who to go next after them.
