Always glad to see an objective opinion. Tatum was a cop until 2016 until he figured out he could cash in as a "black conservative" in the Trump era. His schtick is to say outrageous stuff and then line his pockets from folks that contribute to his foundation or whatever he calls it. What he fails to mention in the video is the three children in the back seat - ages 3, 5 and 8. The cops would have been completely negligent if they did not know the kids were in the car. Isn't SOP to make sure there is no one dangerous in the car? What cop in his right mind would fire at a person entering a car when there are 3 little guys in the backseat. What is he misfired and hit a kid. Or another cop hit his arm to stop him from firing 7 times. Tatum made a video that was he knew bigots would eat up and you suckers fell for it.

maybe you can find 100 comments out of the 13000 that see it your way....is there 10? i glanced at a bunch and didn't see one
probably why it was such close range...to make sure the bullets stayed with him...pretty sure we will get to hear it all
so basically you are calling this ex black officer a sell out? is he an uncle tom?
apparently he made the right choice...who the fuck would want to be a cop these days

I just hope a White dude with a warrant is dumb enough to fight cops, get tazed, ignore direction and reach for a weapon in his car while officer still holding him (on video) and he gets shot to fuck.
Free Advice:
Officer says stop.
Put your hands up and say "Yes Officer"
Figure it out later.

I'm sure Tatum has a lot of subscribers to his You Tube videos so it is not surprising the reaction was overwhelmingly positive since followers typically watch stuff to reinforce their preconceived notions. Tatum's schtick is to make outrageous claims, which has made him a ton of money since Trump was elected. The video is effective and more power to Tatum if he has found his career niche. My point is that Tatum is the last person I would consider to be objective in this matter. We should all be praying that none of the bullets went through Tatum, or the cops' gun misfired, and killed one of his kids.

|
Why did they fire on the guy anyway? Was he a threat to others at the time? What was he doing that couldn't be resolved without the use of deadly force? Saying this from a naïve point of view.
|
|
yes he was a threat.
|
|
The guy had a knife in his hand ffs.
|
|
i hear you and agree with you on a the subscriber base and comments...i was just looking for someone to actually do a deep dive and find a few for me
always possible with the passengers in the back, but you are also conveniently leaving out the alternatives. gets a gun and shoots all of them in the back seat? is that far fetched? he was having a family issue going on...it happens
gets in the car and gets in a high speed chase?
gets a gun and kills a cop or someone on the outside of the car? bystander?
he said there was a knife?
i am not sure you will ever call a spade a spade...we don't know everything here...this cop seems to have done lots of work with the police reports and background of the guy.
i don't see anything outlandish in the video? what would that be?
taking off...be back later

This should be required watching for everyone....black and white.
Chris Rock summed it up pretty well.....
|

You should remember to read that last part in the video, quote from MLK, pretty smart guy.

Blake had a rap sheet that showed he was violent and had warrants out for his arrest for violent crimes - sexual assault, domestic violence etc. the cops knew it just by pulling it up on the computer in the car.
They tried to subdue him and he got away. They tried tazing him and it had no effect, which shows how strong he was. They warned him multiple times to stop. The girl who called the cops on him yelled at him to stop. Yet he continued to walk to the car, open the door and was trying to get something - that's what it looks like from the video.
The cops already knew he had access to a gun from his rap sheet so, just speculating, if I'm a cop I'm thinking that's what he's going for. And if that's what he's going for and he gets it the situation becomes a 1000 times worse. Now all the people in the immediate area and the kids in the car are put in danger.
So YES he was a definite threat.
I don't have the slightest idea what was going through Blake's head and I don't know what happened except what the video shows but ... it's the police's job to protect the general public and it looks like that is exactly what they were trying to do. Protect those people, kids and that neighborhood from Blake.
I don't care that Tatum is on utube or that he found a new gig. The fact is, that he was a cop for 6 years. He knows what it's like to be a cop and the problems they have to face more than anyone on this blog, unless you are a cop as well. Refute anything or everything that he says. Let's hear your take.

And you were there and saw everything and were concerned about your life and the lives of all the innocent bystanders in the area...

^ What I do know is that the uproar over this shooting is too big to ignore, or sweep away. I bet you a buck these cops are going to get charged with a crime and their lives are now F'd. Like the cops in G Floyd. Who want to be a cop? haha.
For any future cops. Learn a F'ing lesson here or U will be hauled off to jail.

It is always easy to Monday Morning Quarterback. YOU were not there....your adrenaline was not pumping.....you were not looking at all of the people surrounding the area. As others have said, they knew his rap sheet as they pulled up, since I presume the mother had given the name. You did not have that split second to react. If he was grabbing a gun or other weapon, you could be dead in a moment. It is very easy to sit on your couch and NOT have those decisions that must be made in split seconds and tell this officer he should have done something else.
I do believe 7 shots is excessive, although I do not know how many actually hit.
Was there another option.....I am not sure.
Listen to the Chris Rock video.....
Don't do stupid stuff that puts you are lethal risk. If a cop says sand on your head and chant....stand on your fucking head and chant....So many of these encounters have a common thread....resist, fight, refuse to comply

We may not have to defund the police....they may all just leave.....
|
|
"We may not have to defund the police....they may all just leave....."
Sad, scary, and there's truth in this.
Still not sure which "side" to take in this particular event. I'm agnostic. But I am concerned that the outcome of all these events won't be to train the police to do their job properly, but to antagonize them to the point that they end up not doing their job.
|
|
After all the police shootings of black men, protesting across the nation, this man still decided to resist.
And what is the point of officers training in self defense if they never use it?
Both sides made bad decisions but the police officers walked away with their lives. I also thought people are taught to call other non-emergency numbers cause as part of defunding the police.
|
|
You have a profession where guys are only required to have high school diplomas. What do you expect?
|
|
What can happen when someone reaches into their car after being stopped.
|
|
"After all the police shootings of black men, protesting across the nation, this man still decided to resist."
Because they think with all this shit going on that they can do as they please.
|
|
I am tired of every time someone gets shot everyone takes bend'd knee and laments on what a great guy he was and how he never did anything to deserve it.
Then the history comes out and you see what a piece of shit all of the people who got shot were.
I feel bad for all the small business's that were burned down, peoples livelihoods that will probably never be recovered, all for someone that is not worthy.
Here's an idea, try not to be a shady piece of shit and maybe you will live to a ripe old age.

It's a bad time to be a cop:
You're dammed if you do -- and possibly dead if you don't.
|
|
Not my words, but Chris Rocks:
|
|
Ok. There sure seems to be a lively debate about was the shooting justified or not. But what I don’t see here is someone arguing that these cops won’t be charge!!
I bet my 1500 HX points which took my whole guvment check to acquire that these SOB cops are headed straight to jail!! Punk city with the cho-mos and SHU!!
Be a cop, cuz we are gettin locked up faster than you can say nomo po-po!!
|

Is there no way we can identify these fuckups and pre-shoot them somewhere nice and quiet where nobody will notice? Waste management will send a truck to haul away the trash regardless of color.
Hell, I'd be willing to sacrifice some white pedos first.
Trust me, if you off enough criminals, crime will go down.
|
|
That man should never been shot, he didn’t have a gun or was a threat to the cops and there were three cops there. They could have easily subdued the guy.
But on the other hand, all he had to do is raise his hands and have the cops slap some cuffs on him. And then, he can have his day in court.
All I can say is that for every action, there is an equal or opposite reaction. Give respect and respect will be given back. When you disobey an order, be ready to receive the consequences of your action.

It was a big deal when 6 Fullerton cops killed Kelly Thomas and got off Scot free in 2011.
He was white and they were a mix but nobody screamed racism, to my knowledge.
Most likely, they were poorly trained and one of them, Ramos, was likely a bad seed.
|
|
Kelly Thomas was a shady piece of shit. I am amazed he never got ran over by a train considering how much time he spent at the train station.

The Kenosha cops and Blake are not equivalent. The police are armed with deadly force, are empowered to use deadly force and are supposedly highly trained on when not to use deadly force. It is immaterial whether Blake is a piece of shit or whether the police took a series of non-lethal actions before shooting him in the back seven times. The Kenosha Police Department procedures do not allow the use of deadly force by a cop against an individual resisting arrest unless the cop is in imminent danger. The only way to make the case for imminent danger is that the cops believed that Blake was going to initiate a shot-out under the specific circumstances of that day. That, I believe, is ludicrous. And the argument that if you are bad dude and don't obey the cops you deserve whatever is coming your way is absurd.

Violent Communists Surprised When People Fight Back

The problem is we don't know what he was trying to get from his car. The police tried to subdue him but were unable to. He was going into his car. Who knows what is in his car? What should the police have done? Continue with measures that they found weren't working at the time and take a chance he's not going to come out with deadly force? That puts the cops and others at risk. When you have that level of uncertainty and were unable to subdue someone, does that justify the use of deadly force?
I wonder why they didn't try to shoot him in the legs to avoid all of the problems associated with shooting in the back.
|
|
Wait, this guy was shot for doing what? I haven't kept up with this story.
|
|
"Kelly Thomas was a shady piece of shit."
He was mentally ill, diagnosed schizophrenic, you knucklehead.
6 cops beat him to death
He was unarmed
Someone commented that they don't make a fuss when it's a white guy dying
I simply pointed out that this was a big deal in our local news
That was a stupid comment

1. As the adult Blake put the kids in the car in a bad situation due to his devious and actions. The police didn’t put the kids in that situation. It’s like the protestors who took their kids to the riots and got upset that their kids got hurt from the rioting. Why did they place their kids in that situation? It doesn’t matter your skin color, but what kind of adult puts kids in that situation? Where is the personal responsibility for his actions. But there are those who profess it’s the police officers fault.
2. Someone not following commands making a mad dash for the cars interior one assumes he’s going for a weapon. He had a knife in his hand. In other parts of the world he’d going for something that goes boom.
3. Watch the video I’ve attached, how fast and wild things go down. With kids in the car, the officers would assume Blake is going for a weapon and he is going to come up shooting putting those kids at risk along with others outside and in close proximity. The objective became stop him so Bullets don’t begin to spray Through and out of the car and into the kids.
4. Good analysis is welcome, but there are The 20/20 hindsight and after The fact experts, that if they ever were in such a situation themselves, they would do the wrong thing.
How about you Show your knowledge through Service to educate yourself
A. It’s not that I can and others can’t
B. It’s that I will and others won’t
If Blake left the Kids in a hot car and they passed out, would you blame the first responders that the kids were left in the car and they had to break into the car to save the kids? Would you blame the first responders that the kids needed medical attention from being on the hot car?

I wonder why they didn't try to shoot him in the legs to avoid all of the problems associated with shooting in the back.
Nightrider. All law enforcement are taught to go for large body mass. Everyone keeps saying, oh shoot him in the leg. Much smaller target to hit, especially if the legs are moving, which is almost always the case. Whereas, the torso is keeping in about the same plane, thus an easier shot.
Also, shooting downward with a very good chance of missing will cause a round to be able to ricochet off the concrete or asphalt, so you won't know its direction. When shooting for the torso, you can clearly see what is behind and police are also trained not to fire with people in the background, that could be hit with your missed round.
|
|
One of the greatest fears police officers have is that an errant round strikes and kills an innocent bystander. Therefore, they take extra precautions to keep that from happening.
