I just read that some BLM leader from Chicago condoned the looting. I also read somewhere else leaders from Utah have condemned the violence.
It seems to be a loosely held organization where leaders from different parts of the country have different views on looting and rioting.

If I was a BLM activist, I would be more concerned that my "radical" movement is going to be co-opted by star athletes, corporations,politicians, etc. As a result, the BLM message of radical change will be diluted because those wealthy and powerful interests will surely dominate. I doubt many people have a clue who tare the leaders of BLM or whether there is even a local chapter where they live. But, they do relate to the slogan. Clearly, the slogan has been co-opted by folks who do not share any of the radical impulses of the BLM leadership unless you think Lebron is a closet Marxist. It is not like BLM has a well-organized central command with a disciplined group of activist cadres. Quite the contrary, it seems to me that it is all spontaneous. The news media is not going to interview or profile or suck-up to the "Marxist" leaders (I have no clue what been trained as a Marxist activist means these days- maybe you watch a series of Huey Newton and Eldridge Cleaver speeches from the sixties) but instead Lebron, Nike, etc. This is all just a red-herring.
