California is as great as it is for all the reasons mentioned plus most importantly support for higher education.California has more world class universities than any other state and probably any other country. Despite our progressive politics California has more high tech in a 100 square mile area around San Jose than every red state put together. The only thing that will make it better is it Jazz and Granite move away. Canada would welcome three new provinces. OR,CA and WE abbreviations are still available. You can keep Alaska.

This is a State issue. Places that have high property tax rates or have overpriced property will not get as large a write off. And assholes in Sacto are trying to make us pay even MORE property taxes by doing away with Prop 13 for commercial first and then they will be coming for our residential property. Remember, it isn't just the property tax, it is the state income tax. Because CA has big numbers for both, that screws lots of people. Take it up with Sacto, not Trump.

As I said....the problem is that you get to that cap quickly in fucked up states.....Like CA. Our income tax rate is high and property taxes are high because of high property values. The cap was a very reasonable number that does not penalize most people in the U.S. Blue states like NY and CA get fucked because they can't figure out how to run their states reasonably.

lots of my clients in California didn't get a federal tax benefit for state income and real estate taxes anyway
the funny thing is, some of you might be arguing about it, and probably had the same situation going on.
maybe go check your 2017 return...more so in orange country. doubt you would be honest and admit it though
