The police officer has weapons: taser, baton, mace or pepper spray, and most of all, a firearm that can kill you. And a radio to call for more of his or her fellow officers to descend upon you.
Why do you want to resist? Fight? Run away? Reach for anything? Perform any sudden movement? Talk back or give him shit? Any of these things might be the last thing you ever do.
Of course, you can always 'stand up to the Man' and then get the opportunity to lay down in the grave.
How many of the police shootings have occurred when the person is holding their hands up and NOT doing anything else, just standing there......not running away, not making any sudden motions, not shouting at the police officer.

During the civil rights movement the police were not there to serve and protect but to suppress and intimidate the movement. In fact in later years the FBI and its cointerpro program set out to assassinate black leaders. To think that the police are some neutral force is not true. Especially now with the growing influence of white militias in many police departments their role is even more clear. When people are oppressed they will inevitably resist. Just as inevitably they will be put down by force. Maybe instead of looking at protestors and BLM as the problem check the role of the police.
