Even though the polls show a huge lead by Biden it is apparent the polls are a hoax and Trump may actually win the state. Or, maybe it is like going for a touchdown when you lead 34-0. So you can read this transcript and see political bias and read between the lines that it is a political hit job to make the virus a big deal until the election but you can't read between the lines when trump says that the virus is "more deadly than even your straneous flus" but turned around and told the public it was all under control in February?

@Flash911 - typically senior managers at state or federal public health agencies are MD's and you just have to pay more to recruit an MD to be competitive. Ferrer isn't an MD but my guess is that when the salary was set for the position it was based on having an MD as head.

Yep, reopening on an Wednesday. Somehow I might have expected a Monday reopening on Nov. 2, if that is about when you want to reopen. But hey, if you believe that date is science, I have some beach front property in Iowa we need to talk about.

^Maybe this has more to do with the fact that LA county's reported cases per day per thousand is 13, which is nearly double the threshold for moving up to tier two of the state's reopening system, and it's going to take time and perseverance to lower this before schools, which can significantly increase transmission, should open?

Dr. Ferrer didn't say that the schools will reopen on Wednesday, November 4th, she said they might reopen after the election, early November. A reasonable person would interpret this to mean that the election is just a yardstick for early November. I could add more about why she is not part of a conspiracy to keep the schools closed until after the election but that would be a useless excercise.
But, for you conspiracy buffs a juicy tidbit straight out of Woodward's new book. It appears that the real guiding force behind the Trump-Russian collusion and Trump-Putin connection was none other than former Senator and Trump's first DNI chief, Dan Coats, Yup, that Dan Coats, the Mike Pence before Mike Pence came on the scene and, if Jazz51 was a politician he would be Dan Coats. As head of the DNI, Coats was privy to a lot more information than anyone at the FBI or the Dem leaderhship. Even to this day, Coats insists that Trump is probably a Russian asset. So, if you right wing maniacs think there was a Russian hoax, go blame Dan Coats, a very conservative Republican from Indiana.

Some people might not even know when election day might be.
As a 'scientist', I would expect her to use actual dates and times, not election day. Why not Veteran's Day, November 11th.
Anyone who doesn't see the irony of her used Election Day as a demarcation of opening is blind.

My niece is back to school in OC...and the fancy folks are pissed that masks have to be worn 
During the Zoom presentation I was asked to do I tolT them to STFU and be glad they are able to be in school.
My nephew on a SoCal campus who has had Covid says about 60% of his friends on campus had/have it but the Code is to ride it out so school does not get closed down.
Politics or not, like the riots it is having the opposite impact on Moderate voters than they thought.
National politics does not matter in WC they are blue - they need to get a hold of their local politics which is where the State is suffering.

@YellowB2 - Let me try to understand your logic. Democrats are masterminding the shutdown since they want to destroy the current economy, which will force people to vote Democratic. Ok, let's accept your premise. If everything went back to the pre-Covid era, according to your logic, Democrats will still be in shut-down mode since that is their objective as you so brilliantly elucidated. So, if everything is open and 40-45% of the population doesn't partake - doesn't travel, doesn't go to bars and restaurants and gyms, etc., how the fuck is the economy going to recover. Unless you want to force business folks to travel (almost every large company has a travel ban) and the non-Republican population to eat, shop, party, etc. Or, maybe, it is not really the Dems but the big, bad deep state that has planned all of this. Guys like Mattis, Dunford, McMaster, the intelligence agency chiefs, etc. No wonder you are such a fucking loser in life. Brain of a moron, fucked up job, no savings, no future.
