As I've said in another post, it's NOT the amount of trees in a forest that matters when it comes to wild fires.

How big or how hot a fire gets depends on the underbrush.
In fact many native trees are fire resistant, which shows that forest fires have happened so much down through history that they've adapted to them, as have much of the flora in fire communities.
Fire is actually good for forests - clears out dead flora and trees, clears out duff - needles & leaves and other natural debris that cover the ground, puts nutrients back into the soil etc etc.
If people lose their homes then they weren't prepared to live inside a fire community.

fires are natural. Been that way for millions of years. Fires clear ground debris and new seedling away before a forest gets chocked up. The ash gets used by other plants as nutrition. Rains washes some of the ash into creeks and rivers and gets used as nutrition in other places. Ash acts like a sponge in soil holding onto moisture and gets released back into the soil for plants to use.
Fire become disasters when buildings, homes are destroyed and people die.

Poor forestry management? Most of the SoCal fires are in chaparral, not forests. There aren’t any trees to “thin” in chaparral. The vegetation consists of shrubs 4-8 feet tall.

Just my opinion but it's odd that the fires start just after riots subside, and it fits a narrative related to climate change from Newsom... and a variety of "peaceful protestors" have been apprehended.

Part of the fire management that doesn't happen needs to be the chaparral being thinned out and/or fire lines cut.

For anyone with a short memory, or who doesn't know because they only watch MSM, nearly 200 global warming activists were arrested in Australia for starting those massive fires.
I'm not saying that's necessarily what is happening here, but it's beginning to look more and more like it is.

I grew up in a logging community. Environmentalists don't know shit about forests.
The brush is what initially fuels the fires and many of CA fires are in brush areas and not actual forests. But when there is NO forest management, the trees are too tightly bunched so when that brush burns, there is no space for the fire to just burn the brush, needles, etc. Once the older growth trees ignite, it is nearly impossible to contain the fire, as it 'jumps' from the upper portions of the trees. Some species are fire resistant, but they all eventually succumb to the intense heat of the undergrowth if fire fighting cannot reduce the 'heat' of the fire.
