The press is pathetic...
Even CNN did a story on 9/11 which cited many books to read but was vacant of any praise for the heroics of many first responders who gave thier lives. How jaded can the press get?...
The story even goes as far as to mention fallen journalists...
"- It is important to remember that media workers were among the dead on 9/11. Six television transmission engineers were killed while working inside the North Tower. And photographer Bill Biggart was killed while covering the attacks."
No mention of countless FDNY and medics who rushed into those burning buildings.
The media has no conscious or morality.

Some people see only what they want to see. It’s be a pretty boring world if every article reports the same exact story with the same exact perspective. The link below shows additional cnn stories about Biden and Trump paying homage, about First Responder fund, etc.

Don't forget Obama was given the Nobel peace prize for not being Bush.
The nominating process is long and Obama wasn't in office sufficent time to do crap before the committie made their decision.
Trump has done more for peace than bowing Obama.
In my world view, capitulation vs. strength; Obama vs. Trump..... capitulation will only encourage violence and conflict. "peace through strength" might not win you liberal friends, but it works.

Nobel Prizes are dominated by Ashkenazi Jews.
Why is that?
|
|
I’m sure everyone were scratching their heads when they heard Obama had won the Nobel Peace prize after less than 20 days into his presidency. I know I did. Maybe the Nobel committee made a knee-jerk reaction of relief that rewards any candidate after war mongering Bush I and Bush 2 who completely destabilized their Middle East with the fall of Iraq?
I don’t think Ghandi ever won the peace prize but was nominated 5x’s before he died. I respected Obama for how he stabilized the US economy after the housing bubble crises but he’s no Ghandi. Even looking back on the totality of his 8 years in office, I’m not sure if Obama did enough to merit the peace prize... but certainly not within his first month of office. I think his biggest humanitarian feat then was to end torture of suspected terrorist-prisoners at Guantanamo.
|
|
Wrt Trump and his being considered for Nobel prize, I think there’s two big strikes against him and that’s Trump’s destabilization of NATO and alienation of our/Western democratic allies. Another big strike is his handling of domestic divisiveness in our country.
However, if he can get Little Rocketman’s North Korean and South Korea to re-unify; or bring lasting peace (acceptance of a land dispute accord) to the Palestinianian v Isrealies, I think Trump will get his Nobel peace prize.

Obama got his 1 year into office (2009) and here is the statement for his award...
"Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. "
Then he made his Iran nuclear deal and sent several plane loads of cash to the Iranians to effectively "buy" the hostage release and other shenanigans...
Obama.. total pussy who solved problems with taxpayer dollars.
Trump... Carrie's a big stick and not afraid to use it.
See attached story...

Come on guys, real men can't be this pathetic...you must be Russian trolls. Seriously, admit it. You were planted on this site to regurgitate the same stale arguments over and over again.
You constantly bitch about "the libs", the "liberal media", "fake news", Obama, etc., every fucking day; aren't you tired of whining like children? And somehow you magically ignore the shitshow of a presidency that is marked by incompetence and deceit.
I can only imagine your embarrassment when Trump goes to jail or flees the country for Russia as a traitor.
Stop your bitching.

The shit show is the left...
|
|
So Trump admits that he lied to the country about the dangers associated with the Coronavirus, how it's transmitted, how easy it is transmitted, and how to protect yourselves from it (by wearing masks, and you claim the shit show is on the left?
And his excuse: he didn't want people to panic so he downplayed everything. Great, so if you know there are sharks in the water, do you say nothing so people don't panic or do you alert them to the danger to prevent them from potentially being killed?
Sorry, you're either delusional or too stupid to understand what he has done.
He is directly responsible for around 150,000 deaths. He has coddled dictators to our country's detriment, and he has acted in a self-serving fashion from day one.
Enough is enough.

@starfish - what does "the left can't any sort of potential success" mean? If this some QAnon secret code? By the way "The Atlantic" is an on-line magazine not a "paper" in case you ever deign to read it. The anonymous sources in the Goldberg article are Generals Mattis and Dunford. The two 4-star generals who were with Trump in France and did make the trip to the cemetery. Dunford is the general who proposed the cover story for Trump not to attend. Why don't you call them and ask them what happened?
"Peace through Strength" - what a joke. Tell that to the Venezuelan opposition that Trump screwed when they were all set to seize power from the Maduro regime. Tell that to the Syrian Kurds that Trump totally abandoned to be slaughtered by the Turkish military when Trump was once again outfoxed by Erdogan. Tell that the South Koreans who Trump was going to screw so he could build a resort in North Korea. By the way, the North Korean nuclear arsenal has vastly increased during Trumps term. But I guess that is peace. In the twisted logic of the right wing lunatics, we should not fear a nuclear armed North Korea with a madman at the helm but lose sleep at night over a non-nuclear Iran. Tell that to the East Europeans that are scared shitless that Trump will sell them out to the Russians. For good measure, let's net forget all the great trade deals that Trump was going to negotiate. Let me count....
The good news for the day is that the Astra Zeneca Phase III trials are back on track. Trump has created so much fear mongering that even the level headed NR has caught the disease by spreading misleading rumors about the vaccine trials.
|
|
Look, it is understandable that you’d resist reality after putting all your money on a horse that turned out to be a complete joke, but we are talking about the health and safety of our citizens and the survival of our democracy.
I would like to think that if a president I voted for turned out to be the nightmare that Trump ended up being, that I would vote against him to prevent further damage to this country.
Why can’t you conservatives own up to your mistaken judgement and admit you fucked up rather than putting lipstick on a pig to save face?
Please, think critically, understand cause and effect, and make better decisions.
|
|
It’s a strong case of Denial, bordering on psychopathic anosognosia.
|
|
Trump didn’t want to create panic or fear? What a crock of shit. What the fuck do you think he was trying to do when he claimed we were being invaded by immigrants? Or that BLM is going to destroy our cities? Or Mexico is sending rapists and drug dealers? He creates fear whenever it suits him.
He’s a lying son of a bitch. You know it, he knows it, everybody knows it.

"the left can't any sort of potential success" the type is so small I can't see it some times. "can't HANDLE"
the thread is about the liberal Atlantic wanting to "end the whole peace prize" thing because trump was nominated. I contend that it "fucks any positive traction" they might have gained with the military story...they should have waited 60 days for best chance to get trump out
bringing up trump resort in north korea...too funny... I guess he wants to stick a big fat hotel in greenland also? he has some big buildings in turkey...maybe that's why he pulled the troops on the border there
yea, those two generals don't have an AXE to grind

....listen to the tape underachievers... Its clear most people here hold the individual in the whitehouse in the highest regard, etc. Moreover, the Dems come with there own set of flaws. But the tape Shines a light on the subject of integrity, and credibility... What's troubling Is how can anything that comes from his mouth be taken as truthful. The benefit of the doubt!.. That train has left the station.

Blm, black folks...etc.. is not the sum total of what this countries ills are. I believe most rational folks know what's at the core of societies ills.

2 nominations and pacifiers world-wide are sold out, so are adult diapers! Obama didn't do shit for his prize and Trump is doing shit for his. Everyone knew this would be a bombshell. I think the college campuses have re-opened their cry rooms and put off exams for the snowflakes who can't handle this.

Sure... insurance will pay now but what is the dynamic moving forward?...
If insurance companies dont see Gov's and Mayors supporting police and first responders then law & order breaks down... insurance will go up on rebuilt businesses or people leave saying "screw it.. owning a business is a lost cause"
New York is draining right now

@starfish, as reported in "Market Watch" (not a political blog) on 10/26/2019, "U.S. negotiators dangled a Trumpian carrot before North Korean diplomats during nuclear talks two weeks ago; a promise to complete and expand a tourist resort that has been a favorite project of Kim-Jog-un. The American diplomats offered the development in exchange for denucleariztion.... Trump who touted the Hermit Kingdom's great beaches after his 2018 summit with Kim in Singapore said the area could have the best hotels in the world right there" Can't make this shit up!
Regarding Generals Mattis and Dunford, not sure what their axe to grind really is. Mattis resigned and Dunford retired. Trump never said anything publcally disparaging about Dunforrd. Doesn't it make you wonder why the two folks that could make this episode disappear and give an assist to Trump have kept there mouths shut.
@Kat Lady - I hope everything works out for you with your move to Phoenix and you achieve some degree of normalcy in your life. Best wishes.

@Granite - "illegal immigration was never an issue before Trump" Don't want to burst your bubble but illegal immigration has been an issue since the Reagan years. The Dems want a path to citizenship (ok, call it amnesty) for the 12-15 million? illegals and the republicans want a much more secure border. Pragmatic leaders in both parties wanted cover from the other since this is such a fraught issue. What is your plan for dealing with the "DACA illegals" and the other millions of illegals? I hope it is not the Romney self-deportation plan?
|
|
I was current on all that stuff with Nkorea...I watched all the press conference and talk about what they were trying to dangle in front of KIM
what's your point again with that?
|
|
@Quat
I already have a degree of normalcy. I'm going for Maximum success. But of course, before I can achieve that, I'll need to leave Commiefornia.
|
|
Nothing other than it gave me a good laugh. The North Korean resort idea had to come from Trump because it fits in with his transactional view of the world. Only a fool would think that the North Koreans would give up their nukes for a freakin resort. The real question is whether American global influence and power has increased during the Trump years since he said during the 2016 campaign that the U.S. have been patsies for way too long and he was gonna change things. I think the overall foreign policy results during his tenure have been dismal and America has never been weaker on the world stage. I'm sure you disagree.

|
He Kat, I wish you the best and I hope you find the height of success in Phoenix or where ever you end up.

"the level headed NR has caught the disease by spreading misleading rumors about the vaccine trials."
Not a misleading rumor caused by fear-mongering by Trump. It was reported by the New York Times, STAT and a blog in Science Translational Medicine that AstraZeneca's CEO said that symptoms a woman had after taking the trial vaccine were positive for transverse myelitis.
If the vaccine were linked to causing this, that would have been very bad.
Apparently, the trial is continuing, so we can hope that this matter has been cleared to the satisfaction of the scientists involved.
|
|
If it weren't a serious issue, why would they have stopped the phase 3 trial?
|
|
The latest from the NY Times: "AstraZeneca did not offer any information to support the decision to partially resume trials and would not give any details about the illness of a patient that had led to the suspension."
So now, we really don't know what's going on. i don't like that lack of transparency. And no, I'm not a crazed anti-vaxxer. AstraZeneca should be fully open to the scientific community. This is a vaccine that's going to be given to potentially tens of millions of people. If they want people to buy into the safety and efficacy, they've got to be open about it every step of the way.

Obama
"for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples and being a racist"
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change & Al Gore
"for their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change and making $100 million on phony eco-investments with criminal investment bankers
PLO Chairman Yasser Arafat
"for efforts to create peace in the Middle East"
1948 Not awarded. Apparently it would have been awarded to Mahatma Gandhi had he not died
Woodrow Wilson (USA) For founding the League of Nations and being a racist
Nobel Peace Prize is a fucking joke
Bunch of old woke Vikings trying to atone for their fucking diabolical history of slaughter and oppression.

Have you looked at the 1976 h1n1 vaccine results?
You know that we're gonna get some bad outcomes no matter how great the vaccine, right?
You do realize this, yes?
|
|
"Stop your bitching."
If only this sad clown would take his own advice, what a shit show.
|
|
Yes, the h1n1 vaccine has a slight increased risk for Guillian-Barré syndrome, a serious neurological disease. But the odds of that happening were 1 additional case in 100,000, so they are extremely rare. In the case of this vaccine, we already have potentially had a case of transverse myelitis in a far smaller tested population. Big difference. In addition, unlike in the h1n1 vaccine case where we were stuck with one vaccine, we have 2 other vaccines that are part of the warp speed program, 9 vaccines in phase 3, 48 vaccines in phases 1-3, and 320 potential vaccine candidates. If the transient myelitis is linked to the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine, you have to think very hard about further development of it.
|
|
When, and if, 300,000,000 people take a vaccine
There will be a shitpotful of bad outcomes
And, the ones that get the bad outcome won't give a shit that they were a small % of the total.
Chinese have now administered hundreds of thousands of doses of their experimental vaccine
How many will die?
|
|
@Quat
Aww, thanks! That's really nice of you. I'm sure I'll do great.
Dudes, I will take my chances with the rona long before this experimental vaccine. No way.
|
|
The 1976 h1n1 vaccine with its 1:100000 ratio appears to have been an unusually bad case, compared to other flu vaccines, which have a risk more like 1:million (an order of magnitude difference).
The fact that there is documented issues with the heart, lungs, kidneys, and brain, even after mild cases of COVID makes preferring getting COVID to taking the vaccine a risky proposition.
|
|
I think the Nobel Peace Prize is a bad joke.
Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini were also nominated for the prize. However, if the Atlantic felt the prize should be eliminated where were they 5, 10, 50, 100 years ago with this position. And why are they just coming up with it now that Trump has been nominated.
|
|
which was the fucking gist of the thread...they lost anything they had gained earlier...maybe it's TDS that helps the libs make shitty decisions
I'm sure he doesn't think they're going to let him win this thing...not after the last few years he's gone thru
|
|
The idea that “The Atlantic” is influencing voters is silly.
The people (right or left), that pay attention to such things, have already made up their minds.
