little before my time watching football...made it to 77 (not bad)

injury-plagued career...not a lot longevity stats...less than 5000 yards on the ground over 7 years and in the HOF (so dominate while played)

Halas ruined him. There was no one else on the team that drove the offense and halas ran him into the ground.
But he never complained, whined or cried about it, just went out and did his job.
Much respect.

RIP Gale Sayers

I remember watching him run.

I had an electric football game and collected a variety of teams. I had the Bears and #40 was on my tailback to symbolize Gale Sayers.

A prolific runner.

Something hopefully liberals & conservative can agree on: Brian's Song was an amazing TV movie. 55 million people watched it (today if 6 million watch a show, it's considered a success), 4th highest rated movie on TV (& the other 3 were films later shown on TV like The Birds & Bridge On the River Kwai).

Made me cry & I don't even like football. That death scene where Brian Picollo's wife tells him, "I love you, Brian!" & he (James Can) is barely able to respond. I cried,

I got choked up re-watching it just a couple hours ago. From the 3:50 mark.
