Yes. A long history of Klan cops, especially in the south. Some other states, like Indiana I believe, have this issue. But now it is the right wing militias that are active in some departments and trying to recruit, especially during this time of mass protests against the police.

No mention of how the Southern Democrats later changed party to become Republicans due to major changes with the Civil Rights Act which was championed by a white southern democrat Lyndon B Johnson.
Very easy to Google “Southern Democrats turning Republicans” will explain where all of the “racial conservatives” Democrats have basically become Republicans.

Those racist southerners stayed Democrats. Dont believe me? Ask Joke Biden. He worked with them in the 70s cuz he didnt want his kids growing up in a racial Jungle.

Historian Eric Foner observed: "In effect, the Klan was a military force serving the interests of the Democratic party, the planter class, and all those who desired restoration of white supremacy. Its purposes were political, but political in the broadest sense, for it sought to affect power relations, both public and private, throughout Southern society. It aimed to reverse the interlocking changes sweeping over the South during Reconstruction: to destroy the Republican party's infrastructure, undermine the Reconstruction state, reestablish control of the black labor force, and restore racial subordination in every aspect of Southern life.[79] To that end they worked to curb the education, economic advancement, voting rights, and right to keep and bear arms of blacks.[79] The Klan soon spread into nearly every Southern state, launching a reign of terror against Republican leaders both black and white. Those political leaders assassinated during the campaign included Arkansas Congressman James M. Hinds, three members of the South Carolina legislature, and several men who served in constitutional conventions."[80]

"Democrat Elites have got you brainwashed!"
All the rioting everywhere and now in Louisville.
Another criminal has an altercation with police who have a warrant, the criminal shoots at police and the GF dies.
Dont ya know its all the cops fault?!...
Sure it is... let's go riot and loot again because they wont lock up the cops.
The Dems are all tied up with this protesting but stand at a distance and dont do much. They support it because BLM is the Dem money engine.
Repub's just look on and say "this is fucked up shit"

Sadly... these guys are still hired as LE, and the system encourages , and in some cases supports their malicious intentions.

"No mention of how the Southern Democrats later changed party to become Republicans due to major changes with the Civil Rights Act which was championed by a white southern democrat Lyndon B Johnson."
The conundrum was faced by notable bigots Robert Byrd and Strom Thurmond. Robert Byrd remained in the Democratic party and Strom Thurmond changed parties. Doesn't make either of them any more right or wrong there were both equally wrong in their vote and their prejudices.
A study of the totals of who voted for and against the civil rights act would lead you to the conclusion that many southern democrats and republicans voted against the civil rights act but a greater degree of republicans supported the act overall and it would not have passed without that support.
Its really simple and lazy to point out that Strom Thurmond changed parties over his objections to the Civil Rights act when in reality he joined a party that to a greater degree voted for the act than the party he left. Robert Byrd was so comfortable in his bigotedness that he only strengthened his position within the Democratic party which to a lesser degree supported the Civil Rights Act.
Now the icing on the cake is LBJ. He was a bigot and still got this act passed as he saw it as a pathway to winning his own election for President. Absolutely no one thinks that he wanted this passed for any other reason, but we are glad he took up the agenda of Kennedy and getting this done.

Both are Brotherhoods. That should tell you some thing.

I know someone that does background investigations for several police departments. Membership in a “militia”, right or left wing, is a disqualifying item.
