It's hard to get into policy when you have only 2 minutes to answer each of the questions. This is the age of twitter where people want to hear short answers to questions, and not go deep into the weeds. Even Hillary Clinton, who is a policy wonk, didn't go far into policy during her debates with Trump. If people start debating policy, I think most American would simply turn the debate off and watch reruns of the Roseanne show.
Even 24 hour cable news doesn't delve deep into areas of policy.
I think people want an overall feel for the general course an administration is going to take. And I'm not sure you can really get that in these debates either with all the lying and spinning that goes on.

thought Luntz said pence probably won this one and Biden won that last one
we will have to see tomorrow how those little interviews play out in his group of 15...I wasn't impressed with his group in the last debate, but I respect that guy as knowing his shit
Christy Gnome said something that rang true...couldn't get the right words in my mind until she uttered them (I was stuck on cunty), BUT she nailed it and reminds you of HRC, which is not good for the election -- "SMUG and CONDESCENDING"....yes, cunty (I was close

BTW, would love to DEEP SEED that lil governor...love her commercials...seen it so many times, actually thinking about going...funny how that works

“It is all about attacks, appearances, and tactics and very little about ideas and plans for the future.“
All they are are likability contests. Nixon/Kennedy proved that about 60 years ago.
Oh well. Glad I didn’t watch it.

Oh...
“It is all about attacks, appearances, and tactics and very little about ideas and plans for the future.”

The whole idea of VP debates is stupid because they don't actually do anything anyway. Like we need questions about which football games they plan to attend and/or protest over the next 4 years. That's about the height of their responsibilities.
But the thing that bugs me more than anything else is this hard push to sell a narrative that anybody who opposes Harris is a misogynist, and everything that Pence says about her is evidence of his misogynism. Maybe he's just an asshole who treats everybody equally bad? And he's interrupting her because he interrupts everybody, and it has nothing to do with her gender? And also, she's a stupid bitch because she's a hypocrite who has done nothing for the working class or people of color, and calling her a stupid bitch has nothing to do with her gender.

"It is all about attacks, appearances, and tactics and very little about ideas and plans for the future"
And yet still we know little about what Joe will really do. He says he will raise taxes but Kamala says no... Bernie's talking a total healthcare takeover and the squad has thankfully been silenced.
We have to read about Joe's COVID plan because he probably cant tell us about it... but then Pence says it just copied from what the Trump team is already doing.
Is there any real leadership on the left?
There is absolutely no ambiguity or wavering with the Trump/Pence stance on a multitude of issues.
We know what we get with Trump.
Biden is a collective tag team of mixed ideas and messaging.

|
That’s the problem of where we are. Everything must be painted in the worst way because those negatives connect with someone’s “feelings.” Which... hopefully translates to votes either for or against.
Those kind of attacks (done by both sides) don’t have to be true. They only need to connect with a small part of the population. If you throw out 100 different labels/attacks.... most people don’t care about 99 of them... but that 1 resonates.

Biden said clearly and explicitly that
a) he won't raise taxes on anybody making less than $400,000/year
he will push for a national mandate on wearing masks
c) he will push for free, rapid, convenient testing
There's nothing unequivocal about that. You can agree or disagree with those policies, and believe him or don't. But if you're confused about where he stands, that's on you.

Why are they afraid of answering the court packing question? Vote for me and I'll tell you my position is his answer. That's not how this works. Biden has no guts. Of course he'll pack the court. Just come out and say it
|
|
Harris just said, and Biden has as well, that they will raise taxes on day one. Biden has said it at his tiny rallies. Hes flip flopped on a mask mandate at least 4 times. Even said it is unconstitutional. And everyone I know that's had a covid test has got it for free with results in less than 48 hours so define what u mean by free, rapid and convenient. Everything joke Biden said he'd do as president on covid Trump has done. Except biden opposed the travel bans.
|
|
The confusion with Bidens policy is this...
1) it has been all over the map for months. Do we support Antifa and mass rioting or do we finally condemn violence long after the rest of Americans figure out the BS.
2) Joe has been locked up too long saying very little.
3) Theres other prominant Dems voicing inconsistencies in the message. Who the fuck is in charge here?
4) when pressed on critical questions like SCOTUS, green new deal, law & order, continued shutdowns you dont get answers of value.
Dems dont really know what they want other than "orange man bad"

Dems dont really know what they want other than "orange man bad"
And that is all the news media believes as well.
True journalists would be pushing for a response on
Stacking the supreme court
Fracking
The lie about 'good people on both sides'
Trump tax cut (standard deduction and small person tax credit)
Hunter Biden
Joe Biden and racist comments
|
|
they must be getting nervous
Pelosi is going to form a commission for the 25th amendment...trump has to be removed immediately due to his compromised health
THESE are the little unforced errors(both sides make them though)...ALMOST like they want trump to win
I think she would prefer to have him win with her still be the speaker, more than anything...that way they won't have to accomplish anything on their own...polls were up for trump after impreachment...they will rise again after this. HOW much is enough for the voters???

Trump called Kamara Harris "monster", "totally unlikeable", "a communist", "a madwoman", "meanest", "most disrespectful of anybody in the US senate", and told at Fox news "That's no way to get into the office, because we're going to have a woman president someday, but you know what? It can't be Kamata"
And Kamara said "There is so much about what comes out of Donald Trump's mouth that is designed to distract the American people from what he is doing every day. That is about neglect, negligence and harm to the American people"
I have to agree on this with Kamara Harris.
|
|
" His last campaign manager was arrested on sun and is under investigation for stealing 25 million from the campaign"
Are you serious? That is why he was suicidal That really makes sense. All the surrounding people of Trump go to jails.
|
|
That is all the more funnier
|
|
that explains the breakdown and suicide talk
|
|
According to fivethirtyeight, last night debate watchers were more impressed with Harris's performance than Pence, with 69 percent saying her performance was "very good" or "somewhat good", compared to 60 percent who said the same for him.
On the other hand; net favorability rating; Pence ended up at the same -14 net favorability, while Kamara's rating increased to +10.
That is a huge gap in between both candidates.
|
|
I kinda like seeing a review of the debate like that...all the piling on at this point is going to be counterproductive...add the 25th amendment challenge from Pelosi...the debate counsel's universal changes without consultation
these little things...harris acting like HRC (smug and condescending, or CUNTY) and being a heartbeat away or 1 brain cell from the commander and chief roll?? holly shit
the hail mary is coming
|
|
that is probably what's happening
that don't make this as fun though
|

Political debates aren't debates at all they are just q and limited a sessions that don't tell the voter a damn thing. Right after the donkey show people listen to even bigger idiots than the just watched tell them how they should feel about what the just saw.
I can boit it down for you much easier.
1 Candidate is making it easier for US companies to compete without outsourcing their labor.
1 Candidate will make it to where a company cannot possibly absorb the expense it would take to manufacture in the US and his spent a lifetime already making it so.
1 candidate doesn't subscribe to the principles of intersectionality .
1 candidate will mandate that we all believe and practice its principals.
All I need to know. Just dropped off the ballot hope you all do the same.

This debate may not matter at all.
Fivethirtyeight, in its poll, has come out with biggest lead for Biden that I can recall. A sample of 100 out of 40,000 simulations gives the election to Trump 15 times and Biden 84 times. (One must be a tie). A couple of months ago it was like 33 to 66.
Momentum clearly with the Biden camp.
|
|
better odds than a hail mary
|
|
I’m still thinking when it comes to The Donald, trusting the polls may not be wise.
|
|
here is a youtube of frank luntz and his group that watched the debate
lotta hands going up for one side on who won
i think in another interview, he said 2016 might have turned on the pence debate...possible chance here again, but trump stepped on any positive with the virtual debate brouha.....the one the commission put in his mailbox bright and early in the morning(got some smart fuckers on each side of this thing)
|
|
again... I have no problem with that...pm me the acct number I'll get it out tonight...got a cam transfer that needs to happen also
I got all I wanted out of that debate...beyond expectations
|
|
Perhaps we can safely say that Trump's movement was to take America back to 1950's with all White Male society where he was a spoiled young kid born in a very affluent family.
|
|
“real Americans”
|
|
1 reason why
USA has highest deaths
Cause we have the most unhealthy people, smokers, diabetics, obesity, all things that covid kills more from.
And remeber most deaths r ok ppl over 80.
|
|
^Most deaths are elderly people. Japan has an elderly, vulnerable population too, and although their population is 1/2.5 of ours, their number if deaths is orders of magnitude fewer than ours.
|
|
dialing in on that?
is it a hospital/medicine thing?
friendly countries are sharing their treatments and medicines???
we might have more co-morbidities than some of those counties...are there numbers out there that factor that in? the US is a fat country...most Asian countries are not
retirement/nursing home issues
when we factor out some of those issues...do the numbers get a little better?
|
|
No, the numbers do not get better. Not compared to Canada.
And let’s not treat them like stats, these are real people. Real Americans.
Dead
|
|
Most of the Trump voters I know don’t and wouldn’t participate in polls. They feel they would be challenged or ridiculed ... so they choose to live their lives, shut-up and vote.
Bill Maher quoted stats a few weeks ago saying that Biden has to win the popular vote by 6% in order to have a 60% chance of wining the electoral college.
I don’t know if any of that is true.... I’m just saying I believe there are a lot of people not talking about anything.... they are just going to vote.
|
|
I'm just looking for little signs and cracks
gallup had a nice poll out where registered voters were asked if they were better off then 4 yrs ago...56percent said yes. one of the best polls going back many years
people vote pocketbook
progressives put out their agenda yesterday...after the VP debate...reminding the ticket of where the train is heading
I look at that as a positive? maybe it won't be...pence did a good job fleshing them out a bit...I was happy with about 90 percent of what he accomplished and surprised he was able to get his points across...moderator did a good job letting them finish.
cracks are going the other way also...not happy with mitch bashing the white house unless he really had to? seems like we already have an uphill battle in all phases...tim scott did the same thing a few weeks ago with the proud boy crap
|
|
"Voting had already started and there's already 7 million votes mailed in. Of those states that allow immediate counting Dems are running at a 55% to 29% advantage over republicans"
That sounds very encouraging. Possibly no more presidential debates and easy win (I hope).
|
|
EVEN bob dole is coming out against the debate commission...bob dole could fit in about now on the GOP side of things, with the DEMS moving to the LEFT so much
Bob Dole 'concerned' debate commission full of never-Trumpers
'I am concerned that none of them support @realDonaldTrump. A biased Debate Commission is unfair'
|

when the FBI or police get involved on so-called twitter hacks and find that it was a LIE...the people need 6months in JAIL min. plus 25k fine. PLUS court fees when they fight and lose
I don't care what side it's on
the problem that has been highlighted is that this moderator is in the TANK for Biden...HOW is this ok with a FAIR debate commission?
Joe Concha
@JoeConchaTV
Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) co-chair Frank Fahrenkopf tells me that he was told debate moderator Steve Scully's Twitter account was hacked but adds he has no direct knowledge.
8:08 AM · Oct 9, 2020·Twitter Web App
Steve Scully's Twitter account deleted amid scrutiny of tweet to Anthony Scaramucci
The C-SPAN host believes his account was 'hacked'
this is funny...his little blurb about the hackers back in '12 was basically written with a "wink"
In May 2012, Scully appeared apologetic about tweets that were made about weight loss.
"I apologize for Saturday's tweets regarding weight loss, etc. I still have my day job at C-SPAN...darn those hackers. Have a great Sunday," Scully wrote.
|
|
why would a former Biden campaign intern even make it past the first list of people that could be the moderator??
2016 tweet from steve scully
"NO, NOT TRUMP, NOT EVER"
HOW??
these are the things that people hate
|
|
the positive of it all?
going to be some changes in this shit...maybe not for this election
I understand why the commission was formed as debates were not going to happen with all the negotiation and timing...some didn't want to even debates.
so they formed a commission and said here are the three debates, the times, the places....with a bipartisan commission...BUT the truth in the bipartisan part is not happening...at least with TRUMP
