In a few years, the new normal will be better for most people than our current state.

The video in the linked article on Michigan governor's kidnapping plot says a lot.
The radical right has been emboldened by Trump, which is why you see them surface more now. Trump losing the election may see several far right militia groups attempting to start a new civil war.
I also saw a story on one of the news channels that showed the rise of populism typically foreshadows social change, which I've felt all along. It is necessary to have this unrest for society to evolve. Trump's core base is uneducated white males. They feel marginalized and obviously don't like society changing, including the evolving of social causes, such as black rights, gay rights, women's rights (abortion), etc.
If Republicans are decimated during this coming election (which includes losing the presidency and control of the Senate), which will likely happen, that will be the start of the social change that will inevitably occur.
As you know this is not a typical Republican vs. Democrat political season. There is a sense of urgency Democrats have to prevent the fall of democracy in this country. It is that urgent for most people who see what is happening and how Trump has destroyed most of the political norms and decency (however much can be expected in politics) that a president should display.

They topic is if we will ever be the same again and we clearly won't be the same.
This has been a difficult time for many people, and I'm happy that the underlying racism in this country is being revealed and addressed. The police, for the most part, are good people except for a small minority of officers that are allowed to terrorize black and brown people. Systemic racism is real and needs to be addressed. This is a time for change.
I also think that most current Trump supporters will be embarrassed that they supported him. There will be a lot of denial in the future when people come to terms with what happened over the past 4 years.

There are many things that can be mentioned here. How about how Trump has ruined our standing in the world? He has destroyed our alliances with our allies and he has done everything he can to help Russia/Putin.
If I had to guess, the $400 million + that Trump owes was funded by Russia or Russian oligarchs. He should be tried for treason.
I'm sorry to tell you this, but most people aren't bright enough to understand cause and effect. Trump cuts or threatened to cut financial support for Nato and to other countries, seemingly interested in cutting our "needless" spending, when in fact that money prevented all-out war and unrest that would cost us many times more.
Trump's "lock her up" mantra for Hillary Clinton, and his urging of Bill Barr to investigate and indict Biden, Obama, Clinton, and others; the dismantling of our postal service; the calling into question the legitimacy of our voting system, etc. are simply fascist strongman techniques to stay in power.
How many Republicans know that the Justice Department just dropped their entire case against Biden, Obama, Clinton, etc., concerning the unmasking of Flynn and made no public report? See the linked article.

I did talk to my good black friend the other day...she saved 3k on her Ccorp taxes...hates hates trump...not out of any personal experience with his policies or racism...just shit she hears 5min a day from friends and news...BUT she thinks HE is a racist period. she couldn't really mention anything to help her with why...ended up pointing to the Charlottesville and proud boys as her main reasons.
she almost cried laughing that she had a direct benefit from something trump did...hated she had to admit it. I said there are quite a few other benefits she has not quite got her arms around yet...she might take a year to be swayed...maybe not 4 hrs of conversations so far this week...first one was not good...second one (meant to be 5min and lasted 90min), was much better...lots of common ground

It blows my mind when minorities and poor/middle class people support Trump. Democrats are so much better for them than Trump/conservatives.
Just because some of these groups have experienced some benefit doesn't mean that corporations/the rich haven't experienced 10 times the benefit they've experienced.
It's like how Trump claims that 2 million people were projected to die from Coronavirus but for Trump's intervention and that 215,000 people isn't bad by comparison. What people don't understand is that 2 million projection is if NOTHING was done. So sure, Trump was better than nothing.
No one knows the true number, but if we were in line with other developed countries, U.S. deaths would be greatly reduced in comparison to how Trump actually handled it. Possibly only 30,000 deaths could have occurred. And I know that the second wave that is unavoidable, but again, if Trump would have promoted mask wearing and contact tracing, even the severity of the second wave would be greatly reduced.

In order to conquer what Trump admin has brought us, first, we have to terminate any sentiment of populism associated with anti-globalism rampant in the US, and we have to recognize we still have racism issues in this country. These are at the bottom line.
Globalism has its own issues, but there is nothing wrong with international cooperation in terms of economy and other social issues such as this pandemic and global warming.
Like any other capitalism, globalism would produce winners and losers and income inequality, but that is how it works under capitalism. We could conquer those issues by adopting more controlled form of globalization.

Now, you can refer to them as "Deep Staters", "Never Trumpers" or whatever but don't blame the Dems for uncontrollable TDS when the biggest TDS's are the heirs of Bill Buckley. As I previously said, TDS is no different than CDS, BDS or ODS. While Trump's family has a history of racism and discrimination in their real estate leasing practices, Trump's personal beliefs are beyond the point. Trump can't fervently denounce racists and fascists because nearly 100% of all white racists and fascists are part of his base and he's relying on their votes. He can't alienate them now immediately before an election, and he hasn't alienated any of them during his entire presidency.
I am sure you also remember what Trump said when asked to denounce the Proud Boys during the last debate: "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by." What the fuck was that? That sounds like he wants them to hold off but be ready to do something. Do what exactly? Well, that should be clear; he wants his followers to rise up if he doesn't win the election, which is a grave concern for law enforcement now.
Remember that Trump asked his followers to be poll watchers, which is illegal since it intimidates people while they vote. He tweeted: "LIBERATE MICHIGAN" and, guess what, 13 armed idiots attempted to kidnap Governor Whitmer. He said something similar about Virginia's governor, and they wanted to kidnap or attack him too.
