The so called "fact checkers" excercised by big tech are a blatant infringement of the 1st Amendment.
For someone to be in a position to suppress info or lock accounts because "they dont like what's being said" is tyranny.

Under the current situation, then Bob Woodward wouldn't have been able to post anything about Watergate, since initially there was nothing proven......

^That's not true. Woodward and Bernstein used corroborating evidence and limited their scope until corroborating evidence confirmed what they heard from "deep throat."

They didn't just come out and accuse the President of a crime and cover-up. It took a long time and hard work proving things to get to that point.

We also have corroborating evidence, laptop and TWO people saying the emails are correct and true. That is certainly comparable evidence to what Bernstein and Woodard had initially.
We have social median and other media sources actually blocking, shutting down or refusing to even allow these reports to be shown.....

But my point is that they were not squelched from publishing anything.

If Facebook, Twitter, etc. can do this now, they can do it again..and maybe next time against your beliefs and even facts about Covid-19. It is all up to them.....and you and others are cheering them on....

Ever since Trump was elected there have been numerous bullshit stories in the media...
The whole story around Russian Collusion was so widely spread by Adam Schiff, supported in the media, and even the FBI ran cover.
After the pathetic two years and waste of money that was the Mueller investigation isnt it the case that the media lied and should have censored the bullshit story.
Have they since gone back and corrected the "facts" with a declaration of "boy did we get that shit wrong?"
Did the media correct itself after putting the BS claims by Dr Ford on blast during the Kavanaugh appointment?.. no.. they never said "boy did we fuck that up..."
I could go on...

@sam its obvious you don't understand the section 230 the fact that a media company acts to silence speech the become an editor and publisher thus acting outside the bounds of section 230. They want to publish? Go right ahead lose your protection from lawsuit and see how much money you have after Nick Sandman type cases wipe you out.

You are absolutely right section 230 is not the first amendment. Section 230 regulates what a platform can and cannot do. A platform cannot infringe ones freedom of speech otherwise it is considered a publisher.
Re read 3 times its accurate. Facebook or Twitter wants to silence speech you are correct they can but they can't cloak themselves in section 230 when they do that. They lose that protection ... stand by for retroactive lawsuits going back 20 years.

Saddest part of this debate is the thought of anyone getting their news from Facebook or Twitter.
The vast majority of Americans are leading their lives of "quiet desperation" and couldn't give a fuck less about most politics.
You do realize that the twitterverse is an insignificant fraction of the total electorate? And, Facebook is all about vacation shaming your relatives.
Just look at this site with thousands of members, yet it's the same 7 or 8 of you all shouting past each other. 
At least now, it's clear that we have 2 crooks running. Pretty soon, we'll have impeachments BEFORE the elections instead of after.

I haven’t read entire blog but seriously what’s the point.
How many times did the moderator try to interrupt Trump and then gave Biden a chance to refute... but when Biden made his point Trump had to insist on a reply... it was biased but not as bad as it usually is.
So for anyone listening when the New York Times, Washington Post and CNN are the fact checkers there is no credibility. Same for the other side and I’m afraid to say this but I don’t think there are any impartial fact checkers.
But here’s a fact... a lie is a lie. Can we all agree to that? Now can we also agree that some lies weigh more heavily than others? As an example what is worse lying about the crowd size at your inaugural speech or claiming you could keep your doctor with Obama care?
We lie all the time. We lie to others and we lie to ourselves but in my book some lies are worse than others. I believe Trump exaggerates the truth and your side would call that a lie. But in the whole scheme of things the lies Trump tells pale in comparison to the lies your side tells and it’s hard to refute.
Some of you imbeciles still talk about Russian collusion when the whole thing was a made up lie by your side? Want proof? He said it during the debate, the Muller team consisted of 13 democrats who absolutely hated Trump. I have no doubt if there was anything they would have found it.
I could go on and on... impeachment? a lie. Exaggerating the truth doesn't hurt anyone. Lying about colluding with Russia destroys a country. Lying about Impeachment Divides a country. You will continue to call him a liar but if you do take a good look in the mirror, you found the liar.

I do have a question about Section 230...
So Twitter, Facebook and Google Can pick and choose what they deem as inappropriate or not credible and block it from the platform without any consequences and they can also publish anything inappropriate and not true without any consequences?

I think you have to know the truth to speak it and Trump's genetically incapable of speaking anything that doesn't show him in a positive light. Unfortunately, Obama is a much better liar but it helps to have an audience that wants to believe there really is a free lunch. I blame them, not Obama, he's just doing what all successful politicians do......helping people justify their bad behavior.
Obama is a cynical manipulator while Trump is a pompous ass that nobody believes anyway.
The former is the more dangerous than the latter. But, that doesn't make Trump a good thing.

I never said that, you just assumed I did because I was comparing a relatively bad liar to a very good one. In the lying game, Biden's not a good example as his only defense appears to be "C'mon man".
And, his Obama years were spent setting up his cons.
I give him credit for strongly arguing his one significant achievement in 47 years, the crime bill in 1994. The very same one he's now turning his back on, that's quite an achievement.
Joe got caught with his hand in the cookie jar, but I'm not convinced it will hurt him. As you said yourself, you voted for him twice.
