The violent protesting and the lack of police protection has ended the argument
for more gun control. Gun sales are through the roof now!

I really don't have an answer. There needs to be carefully thought-out legislation that preserves the rights of gun owners in good standing to buy guns but keeps gun volume down so that they don't land in the hand of criminals. Tough to do.

^^^^^ keeping the guns out of the hands of criminals....an impossible task.
We have tried to increase sentencing time when a firearm is used in the commission of a crime. But most jurisdictions keep backing away from it. Maybe that needs to be pushed even more...use a gun to commit a crime and you are toast. Mandatory sentencing of very lengthy jail time. If nothing else, people who commit crimes using guns won't get a second chance to do any additional crime.

Reducing gun volume is the way to go, but that may be at the expense of law-abiding citizens owning as many guns as they want.

Going for record!

We are so far away from having a reasonable discussion of "gun control" that it is a complete waste of time. One side - well funded, energetic, highly motivated and organized - will do anything to inhibit discussion of gun control or legislative remedies since they believe any movement towards gun control is just a Trojan Horse for getting rid of the Second Amendment. The other side gets riled up and inflammatory whenever there is a gun tragedy and shrills for unrealistic measures. and then goes on to other things when the initial shock of the event is over. Several years ago, the CDC wanted to conduct a study of gun violence of America. It might have turned out to piece of trash but the Republican house said no way and barred any federal money for studying gun violence. I would be satisfied if we just agree on setting up a bipartisan study group. Someone to separate the myths from reality and put forth some realistic proposals. In my dreams.

Anything you do along the lines of legislation to hold those accountable for crimes committed with a firearm are going to be thrawted by a radical progressive judge or DA.
Progressive judges let criminals off and progressive DA's just want to spend time prosecuting the police.
This is why crime is on the rise. Criminals are not being held accountable for their actions.

Why don't we put "common sense" restrictions on the 1st amendment?
That would help the BLM movement.... wouldn't it?

I would like to see about 12 more people added to that number KML.

Why isn't BLM be peacefully protesting this?
