Countries opened up over the past few months. Schools opened. So transmission was higher. On top of that cooler weather has people staying indoors more. This disease is transmitted via droplets and likely aerosol, pushing transmission further. The combination of these effects has greatly pushed things beyond the breaking point.
Trump is responsible for making things significantly worse in the US, not for making things bad to begin with.
We’ll see how bad things really get with Trump at the helm once the full brunt of the wave hits here.
so our country is worse off because of Trump? Biden would have done better? from what you are saying?
I’m hoping Biden would do better based on his stressing we need a larger national response to deal with this problem that will affect us all.
we've had two threads where you didn't know...but all the underlying data suggests Biden would have shit the bed
the start of it...with travel bans and warp speed, we just went over. the therapeutics and potential vaccines will be very helpful and Biden would have been slow on the draw...like all his other key decisions in his political life...all with documentation btw
WELL that is the most honest comment you have made on trump/biden
^Show me the data.
data? you mean documentation of his decisions or his ability to make them?
“But supposedly the leaders of these countries had their own experts who supposedly warned them that a second wave was coming, and unlike Trump, they supposedly listened to them and supposedly followed a plan which supposedly should have headed off this second wave.”
Too simplistic. Leaders probably listened better than Trump, but they had to balance between opening up and being more cautious. Conservatives in the UK didn’t always listen to experts. Also there apparently was no plan to deal with cooler weather.

Proof that Biden would be less decisive with COVID.
too funny...like a lil one asking WHY every second
read our last thread you quit on yesterday
Link?
I never quit on a thread
you kept posting but quit the conversation
What you posted about Biden was mostly speculation that he was indecisive, and given without facts, with all due respect.
In fact, when it comes to COVID, Trump has been the indecisive one, vacillating between supporting masks or not, getting the weight of the federal government to get companies to make ventilators or not, waiting too late to close the border with Europe. It’s actually a myth that Trump successfully closed the borders. He let the virus get through from Europe. But it probably would have happened anyway.

but fauci said it was a good thing the travel bans happened...think he said thousands of lives being saved? yes or no? so are you picking and choosing when fauci says something good or not?
fauci wasn't for it at the beginning but said they were good. ALSO, if fauci said they were not needed in the beginning...what would that mean?
by YOU saying it wasn't helpful? think about that for a minute...you are a guy screaming about super spreader events all the time....you think 1 plane not coming over in those early times of high infections was a useless thing?
we both have hashed out on a separate thread of biden not taking that early action on the travel bans...you acknowledged so on the thread by parsing the language and timing of it with me...you change your mind on that now? or just change your mind on the airplanes coming over as being useless?

wait i thought the whole covid thing was a fake

“Proves that all the nonsense that lockdowns don't work is bullshit.”
Uhhhh... it really doesn’t prove anything... other than they are locking down AGAIN.
Now.... maybe in a month or two... it will prove something... but that hat they decided to do it... “proves” nothing.
^They're not going to do something so drastic unless it can work and has been shown to work previously.
*unless they think it can work because it worked before.
Like I said... a decision... proves nothing... except that a decision was made.
By the way...
"Plenty of people have masters or phds but are still stupid 😂"
Say people who don't have a masters or Ph.D. and don't know the work that goes into it.
Well sir, I have two Post Graduate degrees (although I quit my doctoral program 1/2 way through).
I can say with complete confidence... I know a lot of educated idiots.
Education does not equal intelligence. It’s simply evidence of discipline and the ability to matriculate through a system.
I know People who have written brilliant doctoral dissertations... and are useless problem solvers in the real world.
There is an old saying....
The “B” students will teach the “A” students how to work for the “C” students.
“A” students continue in school (they are good at it) and then look for someone to pay them for what they have learned.
“B” students become middle managers.
“C” students go out and take risks “A” and ‘B” students are too smart to take. They start businesses... and then hire “B” students to run it... and “A” students to specialize in well defined areas.
Now... there are a lot of smart, educated people.... but ... again... education does not equal intelligence.
Very true!
"Now... there are a lot of smart, educated people.... but ... again... education does not equal intelligence."
That wasn't the issue being raised. It was said that there are a lot of dumb masters and Ph.D. people out there, and that simply isn't true. There is a moderate correlation between intelligence and ability to get these degrees. You simply don't have stupid people getting them very often.
There is a correlation of 0.65 between intelligence and academic success.
"Like I said... a decision... proves nothing... except that a decision was made."
Wrong. The decision was made because leaders think it will have a greater chance of success than anything else due to prior data on lockdowns.
So... you are saying there are not “a bunch of dumb” people with advanced degrees?
Careful how you answer. You might just pigeon hole yourself.
leaders think it will have a greater chance of success
OPINION
So... you are saying there are not “a bunch of dumb” people with advanced degrees?
The concentration of "dumb people" is vastly smaller in a group of people with advanced degrees than in group of people without.
"leaders think it will have a greater chance of success
OPINION"
Based on the facts.
Prove it
“Wrong. The decision was made because leaders think it will have a greater chance of success than anything else due to prior data on lockdowns.”
sorry friend... you are wrong. Having a “greater chance” does not prove it will work.
You know.... sometimes you continue to argue ridiculous points because you are unwilling to admit you are wrong.
But let’s keep going... I can kick your ass up and down the blogs on these two issues all night.
There are dumb educated people.
Making a decision is not proof of anything except that you made a decision.
Prove what?
It is still their opinion.. LOL
PROVE THIS.
The concentration of "dumb people" is vastly smaller in a group of people with advanced degrees than in group of people without
"sorry friend... you are wrong. Having a “greater chance” does not prove it will work."
It's not proof that it will work, but the fact that they resorted to lockdowns shows that people will THINK they will work, and why is that? Because they have worked in the past.
AGAIN, OPINION, Not facts
I made a decision to hang stockings on the fireplace mantle. That proves Santa is going to fill them with candy and little gifts.
Of course there are dumb educated people, but, as I said, there are significantly fewer of them than dumb uneducated people.
“It's not proof that it will work,”
Nuff said.... now STFU.
Proof? Or just your opinion... LOL
"I made a decision to hang stockings on the fireplace mantle. That proves Santa is going to fill them with candy and little gifts."
False analogy. There has never been proof that Santa even exists.
Lockdowns have been shown to work in the past. That's why they tried them now.
“Of course there are dumb educated people”
Nuff said... now STFU
You know Santa is real you asshole!
FAKE NEWS!
False analogy. There has never been proof that Santa even exists
LOL, There is no proof lock downs work...
False analogy...
There is never proof lockdowns exist
The fact that countries are locking down proves that all this talk about lockdowns not working is bullshit, because they wouldn't have tried them if they haven't worked in the past. Of course it doesn't prove that they will work this time.
The fact that there are a dumb educated people doesn't mean that there is a substantial amount of them relative to everyone else, which was being implied.
There has never been proof that Santa even exists
How dare you kit car guy? You have a car that talks to you and you don't believe in Santa Clause?
Part 2 is on the way!
