They are not accurate?
Yes, but they are accurate enough to indicate that someone might be ill. That's all I need to get the alarm bells ringing in my head. Yes, you can get a false reading. Someone out sunbathing could trigger these devices.
Just use it along with masks and social distancing and we can get through this. Let medical experts lead us and not the nutjobs that have taken over recently.

Another relatively cheap item that might be useful is a pulse oximeter.
In the early days of the Covid crisis I read an article written by a NYC emergency doctor. Apparently he and his fellow emergency room doctors were seeing patients show up with such low blood oxygen levels that they immediately put them in ICU. His comment was that normally people with such low blood oxygen levels would have felt it much sooner but apparently with Covid the drop was not as noticeable to the patient.
With a pulse oximeter you can get fairly accurate readings on your blood oxygen levels and if you see a significant drop it might be time to get checked and treated.
