^Because the Dakota's death rates per capita are currently some of the highest in the world's, not New York at this time, and this statistic is preventable with enforcement of mask wearing, social distancing, and partial closure of businesses, etc... We didn't know as much as how to deal with COVID-19 back in April when New York was having an issue.
Deaths are just starting to peak in South Dakota, so your statistics are meaningless as well.

Everyone warned what would happen if Sturgis happened and what that attitude meant, and now those warnings have been proven true. North Dakota and South Dakota are experiencing the rise of rates and mortality rise, far beyond other parts of the world.
