The UK got their vaccine finished with trials and released a week before the U.S. without Trump's warp speed...how did we fall behind them with Trump's great program?

This is very confusing. I thought Pfizer was part of Operation Speed. They didn't take any money for vaccine development, as did Moderna and others, but they cut a contract with Operation Warp Speed that would have Pfizer deliver X amount of doses for Y dollars. I assume if the Pfizer vaccine was a failure they would have been out whatever money they put into vaccine development and facilities for production. My understanding is that Pfizer was reasonably confidant that their vaccine would be effective and safe before they cut the deal with Operation Warp Speed. Btw - what this has to due with Planned Parenthood is way beyond my comprehension. Then again, I have completely given up trying to figure out the logic of the disturbed minds of right wing lunatics.
It’s smoke and mirrors. US funded most of the large company trials either by funding the research or contracting (with pre-payments) for the vaccine itself.
The idea that it is Trump’s fault people are infected (and the results of that) is ridiculous. Americans are selfish and rebellious. We reject the precautions (not because of Trump) and put people at risk.
Trump held rallies where it was acceptable that people wouldn't social distance or wear masks. Trump has supported tweets that discredit mask wearing and social distancing. His influence on people is obvious. He just received 74,000,000 votes in the latest election. If he had taken public health policy more seriously, others, including in state and local governments would have done the same. This would have saved lives.
Having said that, he does again deserve credit for the massive support the federal government gave to biotech companies in Warp Speed. I just wish he had a better campaign to influence people to take the vaccine.

Vaccine for medical workers. Several family members and acquaintances work in the medical fields at hospitals and offices in O.C.. They are getting the vaccine now. Funny things are happening though. Many work from home and no patient contact personnel are jumping ahead of workers who come into contact with patients on a daily basis. This is because the medical facilities are sending out emails on time and place of vaccine shot. Workers who are off and away from home and workers who are currently on shift can not answer the email in time to secure a spot or get to the vaccine place. Some have lost their turn entirely this go around because non essential workers have taken the shots and the medical places have used up their allotment of shots. I have been reading this is happening in N.Y. and other states.
