Question is, do you trust THIS GUY to give you accurate information not taken out of context?
I surely don't.
Then read it for yourself.....
This dude obviously doesn't fit into your narrative, but what he is saying isn't a lie.
Post something that you have intellectual property rights and Instagram can use it for THEIR own purposes......
They can access and use any 'likes' you note, and be in contact with advertisers about your 'likes' posted on their platform.
The guy isn't telling the truth. I just read through what Instagram collects, and it doesn't match up to what that guy says. For example, they won't access and record everything on your computer. That's a lie.
This is an attempt by the right-wing to scare people away from these services because they are mad at the fact these services now won't tolerate their propaganda.
Of course you read all about the intellectual property issue and sharing of likes with advertisers.
They are not YET reaching into your computer, but when on their platform, they can track every like and move you make. And use it for whatever purpose they desire......
But hey, let Big Brother know everything about you.....and pop up ads that match up with your past preferences and likes.....
So, if you're REALLY THAT CONCERNED, just be careful when you're on their platform.
And that is what others are saying...just be knowledgeable of what 'rights' they now have to your information....
quite a bummer you need to sign up with facebook to use the new VRheadset that came out this year...i think there are some workarounds you can find on reddit
not sure it's a traditional rightwing/leftwing thing....leftwing is ok with this stuff when it's election time, but are quite unhappy about it when it's not

Yeah, when their shit gets banned or taken down, wonder how they will feel......remember, some of the Facebook fact checkers are from China.....so try to say something negative against the oppressive communist regime over there.....LOL
"so try to say something negative against the oppressive communist regime over there"
I'm sure you'll have no problems saying negative things that are true about China on Facebook.
But it will get taken down.......
no it won't
NO to what exactly?
you really SEEM to try and DEFEND every little thing in the ether...do you have that kind of time to know everything, exactly as it is, or has transpired?

not taken down by Facebook's supposed "anti-China" censors
bullshit on anti-China censorship on Facebook
LOL thats funny.. Facebook Fact checkers are from China?
you know that its completely banned there...
Some interesting reading.....
A bunch of the fact checkers are Chinese nationals, here on H1-B visas....

Who can defend these parasite companies business practices?
Word to the wise, if the service is free, YOU are the product.
FB et al, say that they cannot possibly moderate fake news, yet Pornhub, which is bigger than FB, purged all non verified accounts in an afternoon.

One main reason I have never used an FB product.
The quote by this guy.
"People just submitted it. I don't know why. They 'trust me'. Dumb fucks." -Mark Zuckerberg

Yes, it's a parody.
But if you really think that fb, ig, twitter or any other 'social media' platform isn't collecting a TON of information on every user then either you're incredibly naive or incredibly tech ignorant/stupid.
How do you think these platforms make their money? They collect data and sell it.
Do they reach into your computer and get your passwords, see what sites you go to regularly etc?
As Jazz said - not yet. But I have no doubt that these platforms/people WON'T do it once they can figure out how to do it and not leave an electronic trail.
It's one of the reasons Trump vetoed the Defense Authorization Act - because it had a provision that big tech companies would be able to act with impunity for anything they do now or in the future.

Not in the way most non IT folk think.
I run script blockers. I can see what is trying to run on every website.
The amount of FB,Google, twitter and amazon crap that tries to run in the background is insane.
And if you block some of the Google and amz stuff the site breaks, because MS, Google and Amz host a shit ton of websites on the backend.
For those that dont run blockers on their web browsers, they can follow you around and track everything you do, every click, every search, everything.
Now, they dont do it outside the web browser, yet, also depending on what phone you use.
But I digress..

"But I have no doubt that these platforms/people WON'T do it once they can figure out how to do it and not leave an electronic trail."
That would be illegal.

"Some interesting reading....."
None of those articles discuss factual stories that were taken down by Facebook. What was taken down are at best (to be kind) highly controversial points of view and at worst lies and propaganda.

Most of the stuff mentioned in the video are buried down one level on the Data Policy link
