My opinion...You can't storm and take over the U.S. Capitol!

On that note...I can't believe they got in the U.S. Capitol that easy.
And nothing happened for hours.

They were not expecting the shit heads to storm the Nation’s capital. Same mistake they made at State Capitals.
The DC was also not eager to have armed guards at the Capital, as it sends the wrong message that this is not a free country. Armed guards can be perceived as an authoritarian leadership, instead of leadership “by the people, of the people, for the people”.

Then I would've Smoke Bombed the steps from a military chopper.

You attacked the Capitol building, so that's what you get!
Know once this would have happened, you would've had the Armed Forces (A few squads Army or Marines) lands on the roof, they can come down and secure the Front steps (Both East and West sides of the Capitol).
At this point we got options...More Smoke Bombs (That good military Shit) Tear Gas, Rubber Bullets. Then you can zip tie and hogtie that ass until everything is under control.
Now I thought that's what the US would do if someone attacked any building of that stature.
(Pentagon, U.S. Capitol, The White House.)

Hawaiian Punch, You are right! If they were POC, they would have been pepper-sprayed and shot with rubber/live bullets as soon as they stepped on the curb of the Capitol! No warnings, no questions asked, and no mercy! Trump had the DHS police, national guard, and DC police ready for the peaceful BLM protestors last year, so that Trump can take a photo op with an upside down Bible!
There is a double standard for Black protestors and White protestors! Which is unconstitutional and sad!

That was a total failure of security as this was an anticipated event that was inadequately prepared for! Wtf, you have the #2 (VP) and #3 (House Speaker) leaders of the United States inside, not to mention all of Congress, inside performing a constitutional duty.
Now all the world knows just how easily to capture our capital and our most powerful civic leaders. Just stage a protest and storm the capital to take hostage our govt leaders. 🤦♂️
Knowing that there may be militant protests and knowing that there’s a major controversial joint Congressional meeting, the National Guards and DC Police should have established a wider perimeter w multiple lines of defense. First line officers use blockades, shields, and batons; second line maybe use rubber bullets and pepper spray; and if they get near the actual capital building, then perhaps deadly force as these people would have had two chances to turn away already.
This isn’t the same thing as just protecting a Target or a local business, this is about protecting our nation’s Capital and, more importantly, our entire body of 300+ Congressional leaders.
Because DC isn’t a state so it has no governor, who controls the National Guards in DC?
Would it be the President? If so, then the irony.... expecting the insurrectionist to defend against his own led insurrection!

Previously most of the protests by Trump supporters were peaceful.
But this time many who came to the capital were prepared for battle.
They had helmets, and wore protective gear. This reminds me of
the same style of Antifa and BLM protesters. Many in the people
appeared to be young, not the usual older Trump supporter.
It will be interesting to see what the background of those who
will be prosecuted. Wouldn't it be interesting if we find out
that these protesters were actually radical lefties in disguise
to make Trump look bad. Especially since The Lib/Dems
have been trying to make Trump look bad ever since he
took office with their Russian collusion investigation and
impeachment, etc. and always came up empty.
