Difference between the flu and the corona virus

The reason the corona virus is so much worse than the flu is: if you get the flu and are old and sick, you enter the hospital and die within 1-3 days. Young people don’t die of the flu except rarely (<.1%). With the corona virus you get very sick, enter the hospital, and stay in the ICU for 2-3 weeks, on a ventilator, requiring constant attention. And after 2-3 weeks, you may still die anyway. In a hospital with 15 ICU beds, all filled with corona virus patients already there for a week, what do you do with a new young patient who needs a ventilator? Which patient do you disconnect?

There are currently 774 ICU hospitalizations in CA, with another 642 suspected ICU Covid-19 patients....1416 total.

There are 341 hospitals in California, so we should have the capacity to address this, with 5 ICU Covid patients per hospital. California numbers appear they are close to peaking, so the Chicken Little sky is falling because we can't treat patients is a little overblown.

And I am NOT including the hospital ship that will help relieve hospital beds for non-Covid 19 patients nor the field hospitals set up by the Army Corp of Engineers....

New York City probably has a problem due to density.....but I doubt we will be in crisis in California unless the cases really spike in the next few days.
